OK! Still no pics but, it has a "golden" flush coin,and.....green glass back and belly!
also has a leather grip that appears to be factory, and maybe alaminated riser of all same wood.
This is all from talking to the owner who has been out of archery since 1978. This bow was a gift from a friend that just passed away.
He is sending the bow to me,so we will know for sure then.maybe.

Starting to sound like a 1961 if the coin was silver

Yeh, he said that it might be an aluminum coin but it had a nice golden color to it.(???  :dunno:  )
Time will tell.
I like talking to people that are not familiar with bows, the verbage gets kinda cool.
,But the green glass started in 61? He was sure about that.( I am thinking grey tho).
Thanks all for the posts

Ooops - I think my tone of voice sounded inapprpraite (thats what I hate about chat forums). Dumb was a bad choice of words. I apologize, I just mean that we are all guessing now... we will KNOW with pics.

Seriously, the last thing I meant to do was offend you Chuck.

Factory leather grip was last seen on the 1960 Kodiak.Green glass found on both the '63 and '64 Kodiak, and a darker green(gray)and a lighter green were found on the '62 and '61 Kodiak respectively.
 I still say it's a '63 or quite possibly a '64.
 C'mon,let's see some pictures!!!  :dunno:

green glass back and belly gold-ish tone coin.Pending its really green fiberglass and not gray fiberglass with yellowing finish(looks somewhat green-ish).If it is said 1961 the aluminum coin as mentioned above may very well be coated will Fuller from 1961 making the aluminum look yellow-ish golden-tone ?????? man I can hardly wait to see this gem bd

I'm going outside of the box and guessing 1963 Grizzly.  I've had people make mistakes about the model but never about a leather grip so I'm thinking Cub or Grizzly and guessing Grizzly.

It's like the anticipation and wondering what's inside while waiting to open Christmas presents....

Hobow- I like the way you think.I thought the same thing with the leather grip mentioned but figured if it says Kodiak on it then it must be a Kodiak.I thought maybe someone added a leather grip to it.That and that serial number sound like some I've seen on some Kodiaks I've owned.Haven't owned alot of Grizzlys from that era to compare to. A '63 Grizzly is a possiblity if it turns out NOT to be a Kodiak.
 The suspense is killing me!

The suspense is getting to me too John, I can only imagine how it is for Chuck!  I went with the odds as far as production colors and features go.  You and Bill may be onto something, I remember an old thread that mentioned two factory built 61 Kodiaks along with a 64 (that was sent back for one?) surfacing that appeared to have factory leather grips.  I hope that you guys are right because it will be a cool bow if factory.

I'm sure this is only fun because we're not the ones watching for the UPS truck...
