Title: 1960 Kodiak ..Gutted & Skinned
Post by: Mike Shaw on December 22, 2011, 04:31:00 PM
I know, I know some of you are saying why did he do that to a very collectible bow. Well this bow was in very sad shape when I found it. Almost one foot in the grave   :archer2:   This was a fun project and I wanted to share the end results.

Looks great Mike, sometimes you need to do those type of things when they are so rough.

Nice looking bow! Great save on a classic old Bear. I actually like the snake skin backing. It's a good idea and one I'll use some day.

Mike- Very nice job.I generally don't like the thought of a re-finished Bear classic like a 1960 Kodiak,BUT,when a bow is in the condition that you said this one was in before the transformation,I think it is well deserved. You brought that bow back to life and did a fantastic job.My hat's off to you.

Nick, I have a theory about us leftys, and this info came from my ancient ancestors who were left hand nimrods.
God made very few really good archers, the rest he made right handed...

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I made a string for this bow and set it up. This was the first time shooting a '60 Kodiak... WOW! this baby is a keeper for sure.
An old guy told me back in the day " when you find one that hits where your looking never sell it"
