Title: oops..another toy...in trouble again...58 Kodiak Special?
Post by: Pack animal on December 22, 2011, 03:07:00 PM
Well I dropped a bid and the package arived today...Let's see if I am learning anything from hanging out here... I think it is a 1958.  Also it's 66", is that common?  Now the problem, part of which Bowdoc has covered in restoration 101, the tip overlays are gone...so what colorshould they be?  Secondly, take alook at the shelf..is there a fix for this?

This is a photo of a tip on one of my '58's.

Off white and maroon micarta. Kurt B makes the material.
As for the gunk in the sight window that stuff can be a bear....,,sometimes I'd rather have a dent! Try some goof off.

nice hit right there PA those are great shooters. The chip missing on the shelf is an easy fix.Get a good file and just reshape to outside edge of the shelf and it should look just fine.I would take my time and just fallow the original outer edge line ... nice bow bd

Bjorn Thanks for the info and the picture that will help out alot ..who is Kurt B? I don't know him.
Bowdoc, I was hoping you would chime in on the shelf...So as I understand it...file in the end of the shelf where the chipout is so it gently curves to the belly of the bow?
