I picked up a Sanders Swift recurve off the *bay.
It need a tip replaced. Other than that seems to be in good shape except some tape residue.
Anyone have someone that can do the repair?
thanks dave

Bowdoc gives very good instructions in Bow Resoration 101. I have replaced some since reading it and it's real easy if you follow the steps. Bingham sells the material.

thats a pretty easy repair fact is I had a Sanders myself that also came from the same place and had one tip overlay missing. They were wood on mine made of walnut and real easy to reshape the new one. There is no way I will be home in time today to look .... but if you keep this thread up top for a day or two ? I would be more then happy to look asap and see if I have enough walnut left for another overlay or two.I would also be more then happy to give it to you free of charge ? bd

Thanks, the tips look to be wood, Walnut is a good guess. I'll try and take some pics.
BTW could I buy a bottle of your bow restorer too.''

hey Dave any luck with the pics of the overlays.I should be home this weekend and will look for some matching grain walnut ? keepen it up bd

Here are some pics of the bow and the tips.
I noticed that the glass on the missing tip is starting to lift. If I clean it out good and use some Smooth-On or Superglue or Urac
Do you think it would be ok?

Nice looking bow. If it were me I'd send it along to the bowdoc or Whip at the bow hospital for a complete re-do.
-
If I were a lefty would be worth the cost, but as a righty I might just hang it on the wall for now.

oh yeah twin sister to the one I sold a couple months back.Yes sir the glass repair would be best done using loctite 420 aka super glue.Remember any time I mention super glue I really mean loctite 420 thats all I use for what its worth.I'd fix the glass first and use a C clamp with maybe 1 pound of pressure just enough to close the gap.The tip overlay is maple or beachwood and walnut. And no I did not RTW yesterday. But am headed there as soon as it gets day light this morning and will check for overlay materials.I will say this about that bow.The one I had was around 42# and was a super good shooting bow bd

darn it yesterday I got busy working a spaced it off.But I made myself a note this time bd
