The 2012 Compton Dream Raffle will have a Bear Archery theme. As one of the items included in the raffle we picked up a 59 Kodiak from Wade Phillip's collection and I did a refinish on it. Pretty happy with the way it turned out. With the execption of a couple of filled holes on the riser she looks just about like the day she was born.

I'll wait until Compton to buy most of my tickets to see how much money I have left that night.
I never know how much money I will need before then to give to Norm for another 59 Kodiak...

Probably the most impressive (that is available) set of 59 Bear items I'll ever see.
While shadowed by the 59 items in most of you collector's items, that is truly a dream come true to a true traditional bowhunter like me that wasn't smart enough to start hoarding things back decades past.
Somewhere, someone has a super nice framed photo of Fred with a 59........that belongs with these and placed top dead center in the display.
Just 2 cents.
An awesome trubute to the man we owe so much. Ever wonder? Where would we be and what would we be interested in if NOT for Fred?
Wade, I don't say much but, hot dang. It gives me goose bumps just THINKING of standing in your collection. My heavens.
My hat is off to ALL you guys whom have dedicated so much time and money into Fred's memory through his work and my thanks for sharing photos too.
If I had not seen all the "hoo-rah" about the 59 Ks here for these past years....I'd never have traded/bought/sold and otherwise bent the budget to get one.
Nothing brown and down with it yet but still and all.....my thanks to all of you, regardless.
I owe ya all one. :notworthy:
Shoot, Id buy raffle tickets for "JUST" the knife and file set!!!!!
Rain or no rain, Compton here I come. I've got to see this in person.
God Bless.

Nice Johnny!
Some very generous good folks here. Now, to be a lucky winner.......
-
You do Fred PROUD, John!!
Thank You!
-
I really liked that '59 package when I first saw it too and wanted to add something to it.I know there are alot of pics of Fred with a '59 Kodiak in full hunting get-up that everyone has seen, that's why I chose this one to include with the other items. It still shows Fred with his '59 Kodiak but in a little different setting. If you look at the similar picture of Fred on page 95 of his Field Notes book you can see it is similar to this framed photo but Fred is looking down a bit more than in the one in the book.It is another in the series of photos Fred mentions and truly makes it a one-of-a-kind picture, especially in color.Really helps you realize how tough those old bowhunters really were.Whoever wins this package will be very happy.
-
Thanks again for Joe and Compton for a wonderful drawing. Appreciate all who contributed.
Very nice picture to include John.
Thanks to everyone!

I can't believe I am going to win this package. It's gonna be awesome.......
