I have a chance to pick up a Super Kodiak but need some help with the year and approx. value.Love these older Bears but am new at collecting. It is in very good to excellent shape , black glass, grey & brown riser,RH,55#,ser.#KZ5020.Am I right in thinking this is an early to mid '70s bow. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like an early 70's Super K. Is the Bear emblem on the side of the riser flush with the bow or rounded and above the flat surface of the riser?Does the bow have a stabilizer bushing in the front? Are there three patent numbers on the lower limb and Canada 1953 or one U.S. patent number?
In general,flat coin,no stabilizer bushing,3 patent numbers,most likely 1970.
Same as above but with stabilizer bushing, most likely 1971.
Raised medallion, one U.S. patent number on lower limb, still brown and grey wood and no red accent stripe through riser, most likely 1972.
After that,I am not positive on year without looking in the catalogs as I've never owned a Super K that was made after 1971.Hope this helps.

The 72 could have a flat coin. Mine does. The Super Kodiak Silkscreen will be on the belly side of the bow 1972 and later. 73' raised coin, wide red stripe gold lettering. 74 wide red stripe white lettering. 75 blue stripe white phenolic handle overlay. 76 blue stripe blue futurewood handle overlay.

Like John said sounds like a 70-72. Super Kodiak Silkscreen on back 70-71 but more than likely a 71 with the stabilizer bushing. Silkscreen on belly 72.
