Title: Darton Takedown recurve info search
Post by: Arrow13 on September 08, 2011, 12:18:00 AM
I'm a new member here. Glad to find such a great source for sharing archery info. Recently I bought a used RH Darton takedown recurve with an aluminum riser.  Both limbs use two allen head bolts to hold the limbs on the riser. The only mark I can find on the bottom limb is 50D60. No other markings are visible. The seller owned it since new I believe (1970's?). He said it was a 50 lb. bow. The limbs must have weakened as I only get 35 lbs at 28 inches. I'm wondering if there are any limbs out there somewhere that I could make this a 50 lb. bow again.
I've checked the website links for the Darton catalogs. They do not show this model. Once I figure out how to post photos I'll do that.
Can anyone lead me to a source to ID my bow?

I have one that has a black magnesium riser with gray glass limbs. The only marking on the limbs other than poundage and serial number is the Darton logo with the word DARTON. Model is an unknown. Mine has 45 pound limbs and the original takedown vinyl case also.

HI Wadde,
Sounds like we have very similar bows. Perhaps my riser is magnesium too. There is a Darton Inc alum. coin style logo on the right side. My limbs are a drab green color but yet shiny. I forgot to mention the lower limb had the Darton Archery logo half way down the limb. The closest model I have found so far is the 1976 69T takedown but it's not the same as mine. I did not get a case with my bow. Have you ever contacted Hunters Niche to ask them about your bow ID?
