A friend brought me a Bear Grizzly ser.# KR8996 amo 58" 45# and asked me to make a string for it. Does anyone know what the brace height should be for this bow? It may be a mute point as the lower limb has a twist in it. I suspect it has been stored for years standing on end. Should I use heat to try and remove the twist? Any help you can give me sure would be appreciated. Thanks.
Longbows sure are a lot simpler.

I've taken some pretty good twists out of limbs by just working it the opposite direction, and I've never heated any of them. After they start to take shape I'll string it up and lay it flat for a few weeks and they seem to just go back to normal.
As far as the string, it will either be 3" or 4" shorter than the AMO, but I can't remember which...I obviously don't build strings!

Thanks Carlos.

Hello Jack,
I have been pretty sucessful using a heat pad to warm the afflicted limb. It moves pretty quick with very little heat. Also most of my bears like a string that is closer to 5" less than AMO

Thanks Ken. I have most of the twist out, I may have to heat it a little to get the last bit out. I have it strung now with a brace height of about 8" and it shoots good. I will leave it stung over night and see how it looks in the morning.

8-8 1/4" should be fine.
