I recently bought an old Golden Sovereign Baron, amo 62" 43#x28", its in really nice shape, hardly any scratches or marks on it, however it has a flemish string on it. I've always used the standard dacron strings that those era bows came with. I've been reading that certain modern strings shouldn't be used with these older recurves so should I ditch the flemish or is it safe to use, also the flemish has no serving in the nock area or nocking point for that matter, if this string is ok to use can I serve the nocking area and crimp on a nocking point? thanks for your time, rich

As long as it is not fast flight go ahead and use it.

You'll want to use a B-50 or a B-500 material for your bow. These materials can be made into either a Flemish string or an endless loop string. Whether you can use this Flemish string or not will depend upon what material it is built from, not the string style itself.
If the present string is found to be made from an appropriate material, do the center serving, add a nock point, and go shoot.

Thank you G Taylor, I don't think this string is made of the same material as my dacron strings. It feels more like a monofiliment type of material the ends that stick out of the braid are quite stiff. I think I'll just can it, I have no idea what a fast flite string feels like so I don't want to chance ruining a nice bow. thanks
