Title: Date a Wing

Can anyone give me a date I dont have a pic , its for a friend.

Sam it would have been after 1970-1971-ish thats when AMF bought out Head Ski.I would guess its about 1971 1972 model and those are actualy pretty darn good shooters bd

So Doc, the texas markings were the earliest ones, then came Head Ski, and then AMF. Is that the correct order?

Had a guy jump in and say I was wrong on the date he said it is a pre 63 on the first ones if it has a R-27112 , he said the RW-**** was after 63 , then later to RA in 67/68 . Any other info on this

Sorry but the guy is wrong. BD is correct First was San Antonio TX, then Jacksonville TX where the Lee's still are.  Then Head Ski then AMF  Wing used alot of diferent serial # coding when Changing this or that on the basic models. The fact is the last was AMF. If you bow has a silk screen that says AMf then that is what it is. Oh by the way the first ones had decals not silk screens.

On Thunderbirds is there a serial number that indicates or was particular to those places of manufacture?

The early 60's Thunderbirds had Lockwood risers and the black composite risers came along later. Don't have the serial # info.

The first Thunderbirds showed up in early 1967 and the serial numbers start with T7-#### and the handles were made from micarta. Length was mostly 62" with a few 52".

Next came the Head Ski versions with TA-#### and handles also made of MIcarta. Made lots of both lengths, 62" & 52".

Followed by AMF with T-#-### with a few handles made from Micarta but then switched to wingwood, which is impregnated and colored maple. Also the length changed to 64" & 54" later during AMF tenure.

Sam I"ll try and find all my Wing logo pics this weekend and post them.

There are even earlier ones with all hand writing and little hand drawn wings no decals or silk screens. Jim
