Title: HELP, Bows lost in fire
Post by: Chuck_Delsandro on August 09, 2011, 07:01:00 AM
Can anyone ID the years of these bows from this info. They were lost in a fire and all the owner has is the serial numbers, weights, and lengths off of them. Any help determining the manufacturing year of these bows would be appreciated. Thanks

Super Kodiak XE659
Kodiak EG875

The XE sounds like a Super Magnum.

The only Kodiaks that I have owned that started with an E were both 58's.

I am not aware of any Grayling Super K's that began with XE, so Jack may be on to something.

I think I am getting some misleading info from the owner. I asked for pics of the remains. I was told the super K is 64inches long? Im not going to pursue this any further until I get some pics.

Thanks Jack and Lon.

PS hey Lon Im loving that 75 KH you sold me. It has been instrumental in my conditioning for the 60lb KH Im hunting Elk with. Sometimes I feel like I can snap that 60lb'er:)

EG 875 is most likely a 1957 Kodiak.

XE is a Kodiak Special from 1955-57. Serial numbers are not a good way to date and ID bows; but they will narrow things down a bit.

Bjorn,

Just checked a couple of mine and I have 56' Kodiak Specials that start with XN and XP. The 57s I have start with Y. No 55' darn it.

I can put a X number bow on the list that is close to the 1 you list = XE685. It's a '59 Kod. Special. 66", 47#, L/H
Do have X serial #'s on '55, '56, '57 Kod. Specials also.
