I have 3 Lone Wolf climbing sticks, and I like to have about 2 ft. above the platform. How many Lone Wolf climbing sticks do you use to get 15 ft. with 2 ft. above platform, I'm thinking that I should get another one. Tell me some of your experiences, on 3 sticks, or if you use 4
Thanks
Carl
I've always used 4 and have no problem reaching 15 ft. Most of the trees in my area have a branch or two that would probably allow me to get by with three sticks but I always bring 4. I don't want to be forced to space the sticks to far apart.

3, but I stretch them except for the top one which is even or above my stand. I have found that even when I use my climber I rarely go higher than I do with 3 sticks. My pull rope is an accurate measure of this.
You guys hunt too high for me, I use two almost always. Once in awhile I may throw a rope on step on, but that is about it. Still seems high to me sometimes.....

4 for me. Sometimes I wish I would bring more than that so I wouldn't have to step up so much.
Carl,
Here is a discussion we had on this about two months ago. Several folks looked at it from different viewpoints. There may be something in here to address your question. http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=051219
Climb Safe and have fun
Forester,
Thanks for that information about that other thread, It answered a lot of my questions, and I think I will go ahead in purchase the fourth Lone Wolf climbing stick, so that I do not keep to my name " BrokenArrow 1", I do use a HSS, and a lineman's belt, I never used branches, because I've heard to many guys falling because the branch broke. You can play poker only so long, and you're bound to get a losing hand sometime if you know what I mean.
The old saying safe rather than sorry.
Thank you to all of you for your information
I like the idea of adding a stirrup with a piece a rope to the first step. The reason for the Lone Wolf climbing sticks is safety, I work in archery department, and I hear all the stories. I hear nothing but great things about the Lone Wolf climbing sticks from guys that use them.
The best piece of equipment to have him using anything to climb a tree is your brain, of course if it's used. I never fail to use the three-point contact system even though I have my HSS, and lineman's belt on.
Thanks again
Carl
i prefer 3 especially during the late season,i try to keep the timber as thick as i can behind me so i don't look like i'm on the side of an electric pole.the higher you go the more you stick out in these hardwoods.
Go withy four. I get the bottom of the stand to 20' (measured) without much trouble. as I got used to the sticks, I now spread them out as much as possible. Love 'em.
One stand I have in place right now has 6 sticks, although I'm usually satisfied with 4.
OK, I have read the other thread, you guys have talked about three climbing sticks getting you 16 ft., and others have said how easy it is to use four of them.
I have different problem now I have six of them, all brand-new, two sets of three, so now I have the decision of how many to keep. And I haven't even taken my sit and climb out-of-the-box yet. I think I will be able to do that about Wednesday, in the morning. I think what I'll will do is find out how high I can get with four sticks, but I'm not going to use all six. I do not want to cart an oxygen tank up to my tree stand. And I cannot stand nosebleeds !
