Title: HOW did they get this head taper?

Was there a taper tool for such or......??

Sorry for cell phone picture. Batteries die if you dont shut the camera off....duh.

First I'd seen this long and pointed of a taper. Fit that Lafond's like a glove.

Probably used a taper board and a sanding disk.

Many broadheads in that time period used a long taper. It is stronger than a short taper as there is more surface area. Look at the Grizzly or the new Tuffhead...do you think that long ferrule is there so you use a short shaft taper?
I can do a long taper with my old 3 rivers taper tool, just move the adjustment pin/rod. Ace had taper and tenon bits that were designed to be installed on a lathe or perhaps drill press.

Thanks, Ron. The tuffhead ferrel did come to mind when I saw this along with thoughts of duplicating it.
