Title: A little face lift for an old Warrior
Post by: George D. Stout on December 12, 2007, 12:54:00 PM
I sorta' rescued this Black Warrior from the trash heap. It had a crack in the riser at the arrow shelf, and the lower tip glass was loose at the very end of the tip.
I reglued the tip with Loctite Super Glue Gel, and spread and forced Elmer's Carpenter Glue into the cracks of the riser. I clamped the whole thing and let it dry for about 48 hours. It seems to be holding well and I will shoot some arrows from it in a day or so...when I get a string made.

The Black Hawks had a unique riser twist that brought the bow to center shot without cutting out the wood itself...you will see it in the photo. Black Hawk bows were made by Cravotta Brothers Archery in East McKeesport, Pa. This one is the Warrior model. 62", 50#. It was pre-AMO (1968), so is dated to about mid 60's.

Nice looking rescue George.........the others already covered that wrap thing nicely. Any more would be piling on! Some black inner-tube or leather would be nice-maybe leave the pink whatever that is, and just add the leather?

Real warriors are the ones who can get away with wearing pink Brent! like my grandfather used to say, "If you think he's a boy give him a twenty dollar bill, if you can take it back away from him then you're right".

I`m dated from the sixties also, and sure do wish some carpenters glue, and super glue gel would fix the cracks in me. I would even wear pink.

Nice save George D. Stout!

Nice work on an interesting old bow. Neat how they obtained center-shot. They made the "Galaxy" bows, too, right?

I think it would look nice with Bernie's skirt.

Would like to see a pic of it strung when the glue dries.  Thanks for posting.
