i had a chance to make a offer on a couple of Bears a gentleman had over on another sight, i guess mine was a honest offer or the best offer he had, i got a message from him and asked me if i would slit the shipping he would be happy to sell them to me so i gave the pics one more look and sent the funds away, wow when the package came i could not wait to get into the box, what i saw when i got the packaging off the bows was amazing, what i had in front of me was 2 Grayling Era Recurves with the hanging tags and orange stickers still on them, the Kodiak Super is with Fascor and the Kodiak Hunter is just great, the Super is one i have not seen before it has no white overlay in the front and is a blackish finish real nice, i will post up some pics as soon as i get back on my own laptop, it is wierd the Super was not even the one i was looking at, i wanted a Kodiak Hunter in mint shape and was willing to pay a premium to own one and was treated to a brand new (old) Super, when i took off the factory rest and calf hair to polish them up i was happy to see the Super came in at 47# and the Hunter came in at 46#, below is one pic i will post more soon, this puts me up to 5 Bear Recurves, and now i have to replace my Kodiak Magnum with a mint keep up with the others

You did good. Now you have two very collectible and usable bows. Does the hunter have fiberglass overlays or futurewood overlays?

CONGRATS!
Blue Stripe Super K - 1976. Very pleasant bow to shoot.
The Hunter looks like a very nice bow too! I have shot one and really liked it.

Boy did you luck out. Very nice score. Two very nice quality shooters in good weights!

those pics do not do any justice for the bows, i have ordered some B-50 to make some strings and will take some better pics and post them with my camera, these were the pics that i had to go on to buy them, i am trying to build a small collection of these old Bears, they feel special in my hands when i am out there in the woods, I talk to Fred when i am out there in the woods walking around, I watch a lot of those Ghost Hunter shows and just hope some day to look up on a ridge and see Fred with his bow smiling down at me.

I am not sure, it looks like all the rest of the Hunters i have owned, i believe it is the fiberglass, what would i be looking for to tell the difference?

The overlays on the back of the handle and tips are either white fiberglass or green futurewood on the hunter. The super probably has blue futurewood overlays.
-
ya the hunter has the white overlays

Armand it looks like your hooked, you'll need help soon. :help:

Ya i have been here before and done some shoulder damage and had to go to the compounds for a while, i bought a longbow a couple years back and tried to shoot it but my shoulder hadn't healed yet so early last winter i started shooting a recurve and it felt good so i started a transition back to traditional and it seems good to be back to doing something fun again,i have one that i shoot and the special pieces get put on a wall for a special day, i like to bring out a real nice piece to take to shoots and play with it will probably be that Kodiak Super that shoots great and i ordered some B-50 the other day so i can make my own strings, i just wasn't having fun going out with a compound shooting, 90% of the fun was setting it up and after that it was boring, in April when i got laid off i started shooting everyday with my stick and had a room full of compounds and now i am down to just one and if my should every gives up again i have one to play with, i do get addicted to buying recurves and will admit they impress me when i look up and see them and think of the history behind them and the men that built them, a wooden recurve was part of a living thing at one time and has that warm feeling when you hold them, a compond is just a compound.

been having a blast making new strings for them i have 9 colors of B-50 now and i have made 20 strings for 5 bows, got to find me a 56" grizzly or get that new A-Riser so i can have a 56" to practice on, i have made some beautiful colored strings that really brightens them up, I have also been playing with different arrow combos to see what works the best and have come to the thought that 2013 and 1916 are spine the same and fly great out of these
