I have a green hard bound gold leaf copy of Ye Sylvan Archer, volume III, titled Legends of the Longbow. It is limited edition number 815 of 1250 signed by Glen St. Charles. It is in 99% condition with only the cover being opened fully the binding and pages are still very stiff. I'm trying to find a value or see if anyone needs it to complete a collection. Thanks, Brad

I have seen individual volumes go for between $25 and $50 (ballpark) at auction. the amount varies (as it does with most stuff) on who is buying it.
I have the entire collection - a gift from my wife - and I really enjoy it!

Pick up the other six volume's. It will give you some nice reading / research material. As Terry states, A joy to read!!! As a bonus a signed series in the Archery library.

I have eleven volumes, far from a complete set- there are 20-something books in the series if I remember correctly. They were published by my ex brother-in-law Doug Mauldin under the Derrydale Press label. Doug gave me the ones I have from returns and blemished books, but at the time I didn't have the resources to complete the set. They're a tremendous source of archery history, and each book is signed by Glenn St. Charles. As Brad mentioned, 1250 limited edition sets were produced. I already have the one Brad is offering.

Ye Sylvan Archer's is a 7 Volume set and is part of Legends of the Longbow. There are an additional 22 books to complete the series all worthy reads and a nice addition to any archers library.

Yes, Ye Sylvan Archer was an incredible magazine and a wonderful read. I am missing only one of the original mags to have a complete set, but the ones I read are the Derrydale Legends books, for obvious reasons. The entire Derrydale set is a wonderful opportunity to read the books that Glenn chose as the best archery and bowhunting books to republish. Those who subscribed to the whole series have a treasure on one bookshelf! I will never part with mine.

There are several volumes in that series that I wish I had, most notably those by Dr. Robert P. Elmer (... plus a few others).

I have the Elmer books, and they're the ones I consult the most. I won't part with them. :)

Some of those books have actually increased in value to the point of being a bit high. I'm shy just a few but more then several I own are original prints and not Derrydale Press, although the addition of Mr. St. Charles personalization makes it all the better. The pursuit is what makes it all fun.

Those Elmer books are great, I used to read an old original copy at the universities library before the series came out. I got three of his books soon after they came out. I even accidentally bought an extra copy of Target Archery.

I believe there are six books Elmer was involved in. Arab Archery, The Book of the Long Bow and American Archery in the original are somewhat uncommon. I completed my set about 15 years ago. These titles are probably less expensive now because most of the serious collectors [ones willing to pay to compete the set] have mostly filled their cabinet and our dollar is worth "somewhat" less. As time runs out on copyrights, many older books are being reprinted at reasonable rates.
I did purchase the set of "Sylvan Archer" because it was easy to get the information contained within the magazines, and that's all I wanted. As well I picked up a couple other titles I reference regularly to save wear and tear on the original editions.
The series was/is a reasonable alternative to acquire a great deal of historical reference.

I have the complete 29 volumn set, serial number 49 and all signed by Glen St Charles. Might let it go sometime in the future. Very enjoyable read and many of these books can no longer be found outside the complete set.
