Hi I was wondering if anybody can give me a little info on a bow I wanted to buy for a friend. The bow is made by Wing Archery; Chaparral 60" 48#, CA3156.

I thought they were a good bow. I don't have all the Wing Catalogs, but as I remember it they were produced in the late 60s-very early 70s. All I have seen were 60", with risers that were laminated phenolic and wood. I had several over the years and always let someone talk me out of them. I like the look a lot more than the Red Wing Hunter, although they're very similar. Most Hunters were 58".

The Chaparral was probably their nicest hunting bow. Something about Bob Lee, he knows how to make limbs that really shoot!
If your friend likes that size/weight of a bow, that would be an excellent choice! PM me if you want an estimate of the value. good luck.

I have a 1971 Robin Hood catalog that referred to the Chaparral as Wings newest addition in the line hunting of bows. It is listed at $100.00.

Horney Toad, you may be right. I always thought the T-Bird was the best performing Wing bow of the early years, but that I could never get comfortable with that huge grip! The Chaparral was more comfortable in the(my)hand, with a really beautiful riser, and was also a really good shooter...hey, maybe I ought to be looking for another Chaparral!

The Chaparral was only made during the Head Ski era. And I agree that it was a better shooter than the Thunderbird. Probably had the best grip of all Wings, except the 1960-61 Wing Presentation.
