Was that photo a gag?
-
Probably not a gag. Anyone who's dealt on ****on old bows for very long has seen a large number of bows strung backwards in the photos and even being drawn that way. I've collected old ads featuring archery equipment for years and there were many of them as well. A full page ad for tampons in the 60s showed a beautiful girl beginning to draw a Ben Pearson rosewood bow that was strung backwards. Like many of you may have, I've questioned the sellers, warning them and asking if the bow was ever drawn or shot that way....and the reply usually shows they hadn't a clue(if they reply at all!).

I wonder if Bernie Parent now sports an eye patch?
-
In February 1979, Parent suffered a career-ending eye injury in a game against the New York Rangers. An errant stick entered the right eye hole of his mask, causing permanent damage to his vision. This incident caused many NHL goalies to switch from fibreglass facemasks toward the cage and helmet style, and resulted in many amateur and junior leagues banning fiberglass masks altogether, mandating the helmet/cage combo.

Wow, there's a legacy he'd rather not have left to the sport!
