Title: What do i use to sharpen the old bear BH?
Post by: Armand on April 21, 2011, 12:46:00 PM
i have recently picked up a bunch of old bear broadheads complete with the bleeder blades, what do i use to sharpen the blades i have a 4-blade sharpener and i have a 3rivers "CC" sharpener the blades really don't lay as flat as i would like them to on the 4-blade, it will not be a problem with the bleeder blades, our turkey season starts in a couple weeks, my goal is to harvest a turkey with the old Kodiak Magnum and a Old bear broadhead, they should take the smaller point adapter right?

I use the Lil Shaver to sharpen my two blade heads. I can keep a consistant angle with it.

A KME will do the job but you have to first remove the bleeders and sharpen them separate.

Yes.  I think Charlie Lamb did a good file sharpening video.  I'll hunt it up.

Here's the link.

NOTE - I use a diamond rod to defeather the edge and I DO NOT use as much pressure or a few quick repeat strokes to shave hair the way he shows.

I'd have fileted arm bone.
