Not sure if this has been a topic in the past but here goes.....
Fred Bear loved to sign things for his fans and he signed just about anything he was asked to.
This includes ANYTHING.
Not just bows and archery gear.
Bows, books, photo's,shirts, hats, stones, arrows...Anything.
His Stickbowman figure would be a wonderful rare item to share with us too!
This topic is NOT a place to boast about having a signed item, it's about sharing them with other Fred Bear enthusiasts. Actually, they will someday belong to someone else. Possibly and hopefully guys and gals here on Trad Gang.
Let's see those signatures and if your signed item has a story that goes with it, please share it with us.
This topic is only for FRED BEAR signed items.
I know there are some magnificent things signed out there and I hope you can make the time to share them here for all to see.
I will start with a previously posted handle that I have.
Here is a signed handle from the signature bow program. This handle was signed and then went missing after that. I wish I was a fly on the wall for that one!

Here are my three signed takedown handles. All type I signed in gold leaf at the factory back around 1970.
-
note the type I A handle has an aftermarket bushing installed in the handle under the coin for an arrow holder and the factory stabilzer bushing was replaced with an aftermarket brass bushing.
-
I dont have any of Fred.s autographed items(yet), But being apart of a fellow tradgang stars family, I get a chance to see and drewel over items I never could afford. The folks on this site sharing items and info for some of us less fortunate , gives a chance to continue to see and learn from the pioneers that helped paved the way. Thanks again for topic and sharing info. Thank you .

Thank you so much for sharing those wonderful signed handles. Very special indeed!

Thank you, I acquired these handles just recently from a dear friend who is very ill. I will cherish them always as they have more sentimental value to me than monetary value. I would hunt with the A or B handle in a heartbeat. "They were meant to be bent" as the saying goes...

Your so right Fred must of carried a marker with him 24/7. I'm in the process of receiving a dash board from a 1985 chey suburban signed by Fred on a hunting trip at Grousehaven.

Wow Mike....what a great photo of Fred! He looks so happy. Thanks so much for sharing.
I recently purchased a signature bow from cacciatore and here's the picture of Fred's signature. Serial #066. I have a few pictures of Fred Bear that are signed and will post the pics when I can dig them out.

I'm glad you like this topic. We all get to see these wonderful items that Fred touched. Lot's of fun.
You are wrong to think you are less fortunate. Clothes don't make the man and nor does his bows!

Here is a Green Striper signed by Fred for one of his employees. I was told one Christmas Fred chose to give signed handles to a few of the higher ups at Bear. It is one of my favorite Bows!
The signature is under the finish.

Many many years ago Fred was sitting around my dads camp fire at a shoot and my sister in law got her Proline compound signed by Fred.
-
Wow Nick I like That great piece history. have you shot it yet ;)

This is cool. I really like the bows and pictures, but my favorite is the round stone. I am a stone collector from way back, just something about a good stone. And that is a good one, :jumper:
I also can't wait to see the dashboard,That is something.
Thanks for sharing all this good stuff.

You guy's are great! Thanks so much for sharing.
I hope johnnyrazorhead and Abear, Wade and others jump in here. I know they have fantastic rare items signed by Fred.
OSA....Your green stripe handle is beautiful and yes Fred did give many away to dear friends.
I have a similiar handle that he signed and gave
to the late Les Line. He was the editor of the Audobon Society magazine and a friend of Fred Bear. Fred gave him this signed handle and limbs at the last hunt at Grousehaven 1987. He also gave him the "BEAR" bow rack off the wall in the main lodge. I will dig it out and post pics. Hopefully tonite.
Hey Moose, if your reading this, please post a pick of Fred's handle that he signed to himself.
Keep em coming......

I totally agree with you.
That signed stone is very, very special.
Has nothing to do with archery at all. Just beautiful. It has become my favorite of ALL the signed Fred Bear items.
Thanks for sharing that Mike.......Philip

Here is the signed photo of Fred Bear and Les Line. This was Fred's last hunt at Grousehaven.

Of course I have shot it!!! I couldn't resist. A few arrows down range and I put it out to pasture on the bow rack!

Thanks guys for sharing all the COOL signed items.I do not have any bows signed by Fred, but was fortunate enough to have sat down with him in 1988' (3 months later he passed away) in LasVegas just he & I for about 15 minutes behind the scenes at BEAR ARCHERY booth at S.H.O.T. show and he signed a luggage tag for me that is my prized possesion, it sits next to one of his Personal name tags and 2 8x10's he inscribed to me years ago.
Will try to get picture posted. Keep those PICS comin of your signed FB stuff.

Les Line was a dear friend of Fred Bear and helped Fred and Bear Archery as a whole quite a bit being the editor of the Audobon Society magazine. He is mentioned in several books also, I believe Bob Mungers book and Dick Lattimer's latest book.
Here's the signed bow Fred gave Les Line in 1987 at Grousehaven. Fred also personally took the bow rack off the wall in the main lodge at Grousehaven and gave it to him. This is the last bow besides Fred Bear's personal bow that hung on the bow rack at the famed Grousehaven Hunting Camp. To think who's bow hung on this very rack, I was honored to recieve it. By the way, Les Line gave it to me, no money exchanged.
The accompanying letters attest to their authenticity and were gifts from our Beloved Papa Bear. It is my intention to hunt with this very special bow this year.
Note:
If you look closely, you will see that the laminations in the riser are quite thick and the shelf is real close to the hand. Also the limbs with this bow were still being made with phenolic wedges. This is typical of the early Florida handles. The quality control was excellent with Papa Bear wandering through the factory!!!

I had a green stripe "B" riser signed by Pappa Bear and Frank Scott. Frank signed it about three months before he passed away. I passed it along it to another TradGang member.
I do have a Brown Bear Compound signed by Fred but if I post it here I will be accused of heresey and banned from the board...LOL

Frank Scott wife Elly stopped at plant to do some shooting. Changed shoes and went out to the range. After finding her shooting session came back in changes shoe again and lo and behold Fred had sighed the bottom of her shoes.
Also I found the book that Fred signed to Frank.
The book is Fred Bears Field Notes. The problem with the book is you can't read it. Some of the very first editions were together with pages up side down and in the wrong places. Nothing makes sense with these first editions ( don't know how many were released). Fred turned the book upside down an wrote Frank: Don't let anyone tell you different, this right side up. Also added his stickbowman to the page.

Great stuff, the gentleman may be gone, but never forgotten.

Hello again.
Today I decided to visit the shoot at Whittingham in NJ. Was a last minute decision and I arrived nearly noon. The event was winding down and pretty much about over. I met a friend or 2 and talked and played with vintage-bears ofcourse.
Anyway, I went into the main lodge where folks had some tables and bows and all that good stuff. Stopped to say hello to one of the used bow dealers that I've known for a long time. While talking, I look over his shoulder and see a signed bear T/D. My first thought was to look away and forget that I saw it.
Yea right, me look away.......
I had no intention of buying anything this day but I could not help myself. Well we settled on a price and here she is. Another doll held and signed by Papa Bear.
The bow is an early florida handle B-3421, with the thick lams. You can immediately feel the weight difference between the early and late green stripe handles.
Had an old leather grip on it and owner had quiver inserts nicely installed. terrific shape overall.
Got home, removed the grip and she cleaned up beautifully! (http://i616.photobucket.com/albums/tt247/87philip/wittingham2-1-1.jpg)

Mine are pretty mundane, a signed copy of his "Field Notes" I picked up in a used bookstore for cheap.
And an initialed and hand written pass to the museum in Grayling written on the back of a post card with he and his Grizzly. This was the bookmark left in the book.

Jack - Just wanted to post a picture of the wonderfull bow you sold me a few years ago. This one is by far my favorit bow. I killed a nice 8 pointer in TX with her this year and will be in MS in a tree about 20 feet with her this weekend. I find myself just staring at the signatures..wishing i could have been there when each one signed it.
Thanks again for parting with the bow.

My 3 Fred signed pics. They were all sent to me by Mrs. Scott (Frank's Wife). I love how she crossed her T's (in Scott),like they were arrows, in the letter she sent me. These pictures used to hang in the Bear Museum.

Bill,
It's a great photo. Look at the size of that......"tiger" you say? LOL
What a Lion and what a story of how that hunt went down!
............Philip
-
We always call that the Tiger photo in my house. My youngest son, when he saw it for the first time, said "Look at the Tiger." It stuck.
-
Thanks for sharing guy's.....nice to see them everytime...might have a few to post also....Hink

When you look at the lion and bear pictures it just reminds us how differently we portray our dead game these days. Those pictures, especially the lion are not too kind to the animals.

Reddogge,
Not to be smart, but how do you be kind to an animal you just put an arrow through.
-
That's so cool Hink.
Fred must have gotta real kick out of that when he saw it!
It's a real treasure to not only possess such an interesting painting but also to have PapaBear sign it.
Thanks again for sharing your signed items and hope others join in the sharing.
We may have items of our own that are signed but it's a real joy to share them and to see what others have collected.

-
Kenny-
I think he means how we "pose" the animal for the photo ops. There is another website that he and I frequent and there are always comments about tucking the tongue in, minimal blood please, etc. It seems many people in this day and age feel there is honor and respect being paid to the animal via the trophy photo.
To put a chain around its neck, hang it, and snap a pic would not work on many sites these days.
Sorry to speak for you Richard but I am pretty sure that's what you are gettin' at...
-
Gotcha Bill. Thanks.
-
I like to hang em high and lots of blood..just me

Christmas came early this year.
With a quick glance she might be mistaken for a Grayling wood riser.
But look again,
She just might be the most unique green stripe riser I ever saw and PapaBear held and signed it too.

Funny Mike,I met Fred at a Buck Rub event as well. I thought it may have been the same one. (Losing track of the years)
I've been wanting to post my pix on here for a while just couldn't find the book in all the boxes stored in the shed. Well after putting the Xmas decorations away the other day and some mild weather I did some reorganizing and found it.
I see it was 1978. I went there with Kelly Peterson. He took the pix with an old Kodak instamatic. I can't remember if we were early or just not many people there. But Fred was all by himself and looking bored at the Bear display. I had a nice chat with him and he was very entertaining. It was great!
Like many I'm sure, Fred was the one that inspired me as a kid to hunt with a Bow & Arrow. I remember the American Sportsman show on TV.
Will finally be building my shop-man cave this summer. Looking forward to setting it up!!!!!

Here is a rare item I wanted to share that Fred signed afew times. It is his passport from the first trip he took to Africa in 1955 (well documented). I got it from Dick Lattimer's estate, a while back (also in the 1st pic is a little plastic case with Fred's dry flys he carried). Hope you enjoy..

I hope these copied ok. Sorry for putting the don't copy on a few of the shots, I am going to offer it for trade in the bow section and feel I need to leave it to the next owner to decide that.

Wanted to bring this back up.
Please share your signed items for others to see and enjoy as well.
I made a decision to pass my signed blonde window green stripe riser to a fellow collector.
I am only gonna keep one and its the all blonde model pictured.
I will be offering the other and very special green stripe riser and limbs that PapaBear gave to Les Line at Grousehaven in 1987 to fellow collectors. It will be accompanied by the Bear Bow rack that hung in the main lodge at Grousehaven with signed documentation.

price? :-)

This is the collecting forum and not the place for buying
Or selling. My wording is confusing and could have been better worded.
I was just expressing my desire to pass it on to other collectors and I will be doing just that.
I have no intention to hoard them. I'm happy with just one.

let me give you my address to send it to if just passing it to a collector ;-)

Philip,
Is the one on the bottom in the top pic and on the left in the second pic a 1982 Bear Signature model? Just wondering as it does not have the gold latches.

Yes it is Danny.

Two years ago I saw a Fred Bear hunt as a special feature on a Primos hunting video, that's all it took. A few months later I had traded in my compound for a brand new Bear Grizzly recurve and picked up a copy of his hunting videos and I was hooked. One of these days I will own a signed piece of my hero's history. These are all so wonderful! Thanks for sharing.

Not needing more than one, I have moved 2 signed green stripe td bows to fellow collectors.
The all blonde Td is the one I kept.
I did finally manage to acquire a signed Type 1 B riser to go with my signed Type 1 A riser.
I'll post pics soon.

Hope you enjoy it as I did!

I'm delighted to share my newly acquired Type 1 B riser with you all.

That's a beauty there Norm.Nice find.

Norm,
Very nice find. It's funny I had to look twice because of the draw weight. I just sold a 56" 59 with same draw weight.
