Sorry if this does not belong here, (but its about buying and selling archery gear)
I have stopped using paypal for about the last year, but had a balance left of money, well it looks like I was hacked and I have lost some money.(not a life changing amount)
I am looking into just sending/accepting bank wire transfers, they look like they are free and very safe and you don't have to leave home to send/receive someone's money.
Does anyone else have experience with wire transfers pro and cons
Thanks Kurt

I just had a guy I didn't know try to get money wired to my bank for a piece of farm equiptment and his bank told him that transaction couldn't be done over the phone. He needed to go to the bank in person to do it. I was standing next to him when they told him. He was an FBI agent and couldn't understand why I wouldn't take a personal check from him with all his ID and badge.

Hi Kurt!
The banks are bad or worse than Paypal. Everybody wants to hold onto your money for a few days to collect interest. I think a personal check or money order is cheaper than a wire transfer, if the goods can't be "wired," why worry about a few days to wait for a check to clear?
Make sure Paypal didn't just absorb your balance! They might have some minimum balance policy hidden in fine print. I never leave 50 cents in PayPal - get it out as fast as you can.
PS - I am still using the chromatography paper in my labs.

I am trying on the PP community forums, I can't spend 3 hrs on the phone, I'd pop a gasket.
Funny yesterday someone sent me payment through paypal, so they don't mind money going to me, just me leaving it unspent for to long.
I am going to set it up for paypal to go to a separate bank account, I will use only for paypal, I have heard having it link to your main account is a risk, so is just leaving with paypal

I never had any problem with PayPal. I also never leave a balance in the account. My account is linked to my debit card. Any time a make a payment through PayPal, it just debits my checking account. Don't know what to tell you anout money actually sitting in ou PayPal account because I have never had any. Just like abything else, we can all have different experience with PayPal or any thing else. So far all myn experiences have been good...Knock on wood.

I always have a Paypal balance- sometimes lots, depending on what's happening. To me it is just a bank account and has nothing to do with cards. I have used wire transfers-too many numbers and too much information to be user friendly.

I pretty much took a two year hiatus from collecting, etc.
My PP had a few bucks in it but the account hadn't been used.
Card was out dated etc, but when I reactivated it, my $6.00 was still there.

Thats unfortunate, been using paypal for years with never an issue. always feels more secure . I tooo will keep fingerscrossed. But I will also take any kind of check. buyers are just informed they need to wait until they clear.
