Title: A family Grizzly

Thought i would post some pictures of my grandfathers Bear Grizzly  I acquired some time ago.   Its in pretty good shape and shoots very well.  Can you guys age the bow ?

Yes it's a 1972. Grandfathers? You realize that makes a bunch of us feel pretty old about now.

Jack is correct on both counts.

I like the wood character on this bow.  Of course the best aspect is that it's your grandfather's.

Jack may be it was a retirement gift for his grandfather  :)

Could this possibly be a 1971 model.Both the '71 and '72 are made of shedua with black glass,58" a.m.o.,both could have the accessory bushing.One thing that makes me think it may be a '71 is the patent numbers.I think that 1971 was the last year that Bear listed all three patent numbers on the lower limb.Then in 1972 they started to just list the one number.It appears that this bow has the three patent numbers.I don't have any post '71 Bear bows here to look at but that seemed to be a determining factor.Also I believe the flat coin was last used in 1971 then the raised medallion came into use in 1972.There are no pics of the coin/medallion side of the bow to verify this.But my guess is it's a 1971.

Yes, I was using the silkscreen on the belly in dating it as a 72 also. Although I no longer have either I had a 71 and a 72 a few months ago.

Thanks guys for all the info.

It was a gift from my father to his father in-law back in the 70's.  Several years ago my mother recovered and gave it to me.  

I need to hunt with this bow one day.
