Been kind of watching for '59 kodiak but I was hoping some of the members here could advise as to what makes a '59 valuable . Its been a while but I seen a '59? on the auction sight go for well over the $1000 dollar mark, and it looked in rough shape, when others usually stall at the $400 mark or less . what could have made that perticular bow worth so much more ? it wasn't autographed if I remember right !How can a true '59 be identified I've heard of differant placement of the decals but not sure which is which. if I do find one it will definately be for hunting! so I'm not worried about having to repair or refinnish a little . I would appreciate hearing any input .I'm always learning!!

I guess it all boils down to supply and demand but they sure don't seem to bring the prices they were only a few months ago. I was hoping to find one for my small collection too but wasn't ready to pay the price they were going for earlier. I lucked out and found a really nice one in my price range a few weeks ago.
If I were just wanting one for hunting I think I would go with one of the replicas. Some real works of art coming from some of the bowyers out there. There have been a couple used replicas for very reasonable prices in the classifieds in recent weeks.

1959's that sell in the 1,000.00 range are normaly the rare maple ibeam aka maple sight window bd

Yes, that one gone for high dollars in bad condition was an extremely rare maple window.

Sometimes all it takes is two stubborn bidders with deep pockets.
You can go figure why one particular bow goes for big bucks and two weeks later one just like it won't draw a bid.
All depends on who's bidding on them and what frame of mind they are in.
