Title: 1960 Griz Snake Skin Help

Ok guys, I am backing a 1960 griz with rattle snake skins . Before I start any advice , tips , help , would be greatly appreciated. I wll do pics as I go when I get this project undeway....Thanks Mike

Mike, I never did a glass bow but sold several pairs of rattlers to guys that did.This info may not be correct buts its what I was told and is similar to the way I do self bows.Clean then degrease the limbs [Acetone-I would do it outside--nasty stuff] Some say to lightly sand [400] but I don't know if thats neccessary. soften the skins in water and pat all excess off. coat skin with TiteBond II or III. Follow directions on container and apply accordingly. Work out the air bubbles and let dry. Trim the edges with an exacto knife or similar razor [careful here]. At this point i've also heard of usinf a file at the edges of the limbs with a fine file. remove scales--scrape with a dull knife or use masking tape. Seal with whatever--I like tru oil. Maybe someone else has a better way. Good luck.
