Hello there, first post here. Could you help me on this one? It is a Black Panther, SN is KP8164.
Do you know the age of this bow? I can't find any information about this model of Bear Archery.

My guess would be mid-70's but sure the experts can pin it down better. Nice looking 1 piece.

It's gonna take someone smarter than me. I know they're kind of common, but I just looked through all the Grayling catalogs and couldn't find it. I also looked through the 81, 82, 83, & 85 Gainesville catalogs and it's not there either.
Could it be a '79 model marked Grayling from the transition period?

I believe these bows were sold exclusively at K-Mart or Sears. That would be why they do not figure in the Bear catalogues.
I have the Black Panther Hunter, a 52"inch bow (40/45#). Not a bad shooter IMO and does not finger pinch at 28" draw.

Thanks for the reply but it's very curious that I can't find information of it on the web and that there is no brass medalion for this model.

These bows were made by Bear for department stores.
There was a Black Panther and Black Panter Hunter. 56" and 52".

They were sold at Coast to Coast and Kmart. Mid 70's. Bows made by bear and sold at Pennys and Sears will have a small Sears or Pennys Foremost decal on them. Bear also made Ranger bows for schools that you will not find in the catalog as well as White Bear bows not found in the catalog. All Grayling bows however.
