Title: Bow cleanup
Post by: Wingbow on September 02, 2010, 11:53:00 PM
Been searching and could not find the answer.  What should I use to clean off all the old adhesive residue on an old bow?  Afraid to use acetone and don't want to ruin the finish.

Have you tried "Goo Gone" from the home store? I have used it on old tape on other wood projects without hurting the finish. I think it is a orange citric base. Only chemical that might work and not hurt the finish are minerial spirts or denatured alcohol. On old finishs I would go slow.

I use goof off from home depot. It removes old paint and glue residue without harm to finish

I  have used Flitz metal polish with very good results.  The tube says it can be used on fiberglass also.
