I just received this one in the shop. What a great looking old bow! It seems like just the finish that is badly cracked, but the bow itself seems very solid.
I have read where the early years of clear glass were not good, and many bows delaminated. Once refinished, will this bow make a shooter, or should it be hung on the wall? It is 64", and 44@28 (although it scales a little less). So a tad light for hunting, but I'll bet could still close the deal on a deer.

That will be a good one Whip, I love the really ugly ones, They get real purty after the spraying. Hey! are those osha approved shop shoes?

Joe there was really not a problem with shooting the KD & KSD its was the clear glass with stress cracks that was butt ugly so Bear dropped the clear glass from thier line.I've actualy only seen one KD that delamed and it may have had a little limb damage prior to delaming.Sounds like your staying busy ? bd

I had the clear glass Kodiak Special Deluxe and I shot the heck out of it, no problems. As far as I know the man I sold it to is still shooting it.
I read somewhere that the glue did not adhere consistantly to the clear glass and this is why Bear discontinued using it but as I said, I put hundreds of arrows through mine without issue.

Absolutely OSHA approved Chuck. Steel toed Crocs are the new thing!
BD, yep, busier than I ever thought. Gonna have to be careful or this could turn into a job! Lord knows I don't want one of those ;)
I really like the looks of this bow. First thing I did was ask if he wanted to sell it. No such luck. If it were me I would sure go ahead and shoot it.

I'm going to throw in a plug for Whip's work. I picked up this trashed Super K and dropped it off to him at Compton for some new overlays...before and after.

Just bought a 61 KS on the bay for 66 bucks. Lots of stress cracks. Am going to get my feet wet in the refinish business with it this winter.
