Title: Who manufactured the Schulz Hunter Broadhead?
Post by: flint kemper on June 24, 2010, 08:11:00 PM
I foolishly   :knothead:    let a dozen mounted on ACME cedars go for a low price at our Spring banquet and kick myself everyday for it. Who manufactured this broadhead. I would like to have 1/2 dozen. Thanks Flint

I think you are talking about the Hunters
Head. Don't know who manufactured them but I have some used ones that I would sell.

Is this the head your asking about ?

If so all it says is they were made by Fred Kurtz and John Schulz in the mid 70's

                   Thanx, Shep

That looks like it. I have 7 with the 21/64 ferrul and 6 with 23/64 ferrul. The 21/64 ones were bought in 1979  when I bought a Shultz long bow. The others were bought much later. Email me if anybody wants them.  Mike

My understanding is that John Lee was instrumental in working with John Schulz to develop the head.  It is one great arrowhead!  I still have a number of arrows tipped with them, and I still use them.  John Lee was kind enough to give me a prototype of the head that I have in my collection.

Jack, did he farm it out to someone else, did he build them himself, did he have the jigs and fixtures, did John Lee build all of them? That is the info I was searching for.

My understanding is that John Lee was involved in the design but not the manufacture of the heads.  I believe that John worked through an individual/firm in Manchester, CT to have the heads manufactured.  I seem to recall that the individual then moved [I believe] to Canada and no longer manufactures the broadhead.  I'm sure that John Lee could provide all the answers that you are looking for.  It certainly is one great broadhead.
