Trad Gang peeps,
I am going to be looking at a Bear Bearcat "Glass powered" 45# recurve this afternoon. I need to check it for any possible damage. The seller (private, not **** or anything) is looking for $85 for it. Just wondering if it is worth it. I know the Bearcats were made between 1964-1971 in Grayling, MI.
Thoughts? And what exactly should I be looking for in terms of any damage or problems?
Thanks, peeps!

Drilled holes turn me off, but should not affect the bow's integrity.
A slight twisted limb is no big thing to correct, so do not let that bother you too much. Stress lines/cracks is common, but if not too deep or lifing up, OK.
I mainly look for delaminations, tip damage, and overall appearance (which could show signs of abuse). Use a stringer to string it and gently flex the limbs a few times, and eventually get to full draw.
Price asked is fair, but no bargain, even though the Bearcats are pretty good shooters.

Those Bear Bearcats may be on the lower end of Bear line of bows but as well as being a decent shooter if you search a little you can find some beauties.
(left,right)) 1964 - 42# and a 1966 - 38#

Trad Gang peeps,
Well...I pulled the trigger and bought the Bearcat. I checked the limbs for any twisting and ran cotton balls over them for any splintering/delamination. I even shot a few arrows through it. All is good...and I haggled it down to $70!
Thanks for the replies on this one everybody!

Jack,
Yeah, 1969 from the first digit in the S/N. Thanks and BTW, the cat is a "2005" model.
:)
Thanks again, everybody!
