Title: 59 grizzly
Post by: Jmatt1957 on April 18, 2010, 07:00:00 AM
I purchased a 59 Grizzly back in March.Beautiful bow quiet and hard hitting 51@28. The grip is way different then I am used to should I be holding the bow like a recurve in the web of my bow hand or like a long bow all fingers around the grip ??

While I haven't had the opportunity to shoot a 59 Grizz I do have a mid 50's Kodiak Special and a few other Bears from that era. My experience has been that I hold them all in the web of my hand. The longbow grip doesn't work for me but that is just my experience.

Great bow. Any pics?

I have a couple '59s and find that I shoot better if I heel the bow some. Light or no pressure with pinky finger. The '57-'62 grizzlys seem to have a grip that really feels natural to me. Everybody's different so experiment some to see what works for you.

59 Grizzlies and Kodiacks have long been my favs.........the more gently you hold the bow the better-just enough so it does not fly away with the arrow; and follow through till the arrow finds the target.
