I had a co-worker of mine give me a Tice & Watts recurve, not real sure which one it is but it is painted flat black from the factory. Is this something that I do not want to shoot and retain as a collector piece or is it something that I can play with and not worry about it. Basically what is the value of the bow?

Tice & Watts bows are considered as collectibles by many. However, if it is in good sound condition, it should be shot and enjoyed,
Tice and Watts were two engineers that worked for NASA at the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. They used the NASA CAD programs to design their bows. They were the first computer designed bows.
I don't know if they camo'd any of their bows but unless you want it natural wood, I would leave it alone.
You have a good bow there, and a generous friend in your co-worker..

From what I've seen at Denton hills' blanket swap they did factory camo them,I was looking for one for the man who built my bow who lives in Decatur,AL, and besides being an excellent bowyer is an archery encyclopedia,if you want his information I can put you in contact with him, as he's always looking for something,and great to talk to.

I have a Spartan I and it's 58" long and I believe the Spartan II is 62". Mine draws extreemly smooth but I can't quiet it down. It's fast.

I am from Huntsville, Alabama and know some of the history of the bows but I don't want to do anything to damage the bow. I have shot it and it is fast but like reddogge said it is noisy. Who is the guy you know in Decatur?
