Just want to find out something about this bow, I'll describe as best I can as I can't do pix right now.....
It's a 60"...47# Kodiak....#16BS4 or B54 with olive greenish glass back and belly...."dog legg'ish" looking....
riser looks to be bubinga'ish looking rich reddish color, with a "beam" through the riser....with an in-layed gold coin
tip overlays are gray and olive green.....on the bow is a aluminium bh cover, spring arm quiver....
Also wondering what a bow like this is worth as Dad wants to buy it from his buddy....It's been hunted with a lot and is dinged up a bit, but in pretty good shape...
Thanx guys

Curt, sounds like a '63 if it's a dogleg. I haven't seen too many '63 Kodiaks on that auction site. there are 3 '63 Grizzlys over there right now that started low with a few days to go.
I'm gonna guess 3-350. I'm sure the experts will be along to set me straight soon :bigsmyl:

Curt their is a left hand Grizzly dog leg for sale on the trad bow thread see if that looks like the one your dad wants to buy.

I agree, sounds like a 63 Kodiak.
A 45# '63 ended yeaterday on the big auction site for a whopping $168.00 plus change.
The mentioned specimen was fairly rough but even the best of them seem to sell for $250.00 or leas.

Yes guys, it's the one all the way to the right in that pic...a '63 for sure, looks just like that bow.
Thanx guys....
What can you tell me about the Alum. spring arm quiver?
-
What color is the quiver Curt? Brown? green? 4 arrow? 8 arrow?

Curt, Here's a page from the 1965 Bear Archery catalog.
I believe the 8 arrow springarm first showed up in the 63 Catalog and then the 4 arrow leathertop quiver which was previously available in a bolt on and tape on model was first offered in a springarm version in 65.

Trap, It's an 8 arrow green quiver like most I've seen, but those were plastic hooded....this one has an alum. hood...just wondering if maybe it was made a certain year....
-
I don't know Curt. Most I've seen have been plastic as well.
Maybe Wade or Ron can answer that question.

Curt- the aluminum hood was pretty short lived and was the predecessor to the plastic hood. Its been so long since I have owned one it tough to recall but in my memory it was identical otherwise and only a little heavier. It has a rougher, somewhat pebbled finish compared to the smoother surface of the later hoods. Grant
