Title: Horizontal Versus Vertical Bow-Display Racks!
Post by: TimberlineX on September 09, 2009, 12:53:00 PM
I’ve long thought that what we need is a bow-display rack that conveniently configures multiple bows VERTICALLY. An array of multiple bows displayed vertically (essentially in the position in which they are used) is more impressive than a display of multiple bow displayed horizontally.

Not sure about that? Here’s a photo of bows arranged HORIZONTALLY,

And now here’s the exact same photo rotated to display the same bows VERTICALLY. The vertical presentation is much more impressive (because the bows are shown in the position in which they are used)!

We commonly use horizontal bow-display racks because they are easy to make and especially easy to use. Gravity holds the bows securely in place on a horizontal rack. Such horizontal bow-display racks also enable bows to be easily removed and returned to the rack. That’s important.

Yet a rack that would position the same bow’s vertically would create a much more impressive display. But how to do that?

What we need is a bow-display rack that would somehow grab or clamp a line of multiple-but-different bows in a side-by-side vertical pattern.  The rack must have some sort of a system to allow for the height-adjustment of each bow, and it must also allow every bow to be conveniently removed and returned to the rack as need be.

As far as I know, no such adjustable, convenient in-and-out, VERTICAL  bow-display rack exists. But I would sure like one.

Does anyone have any ideas on how such a vertical bow-display rack could be designed and made? How might the clamps work?

Any inventor-types or archery-oriented mechanical engineers out there?

Bill, every vertical display I've seen has some drawback except for the single display mount you featured recently. I remember the old hardware/sporting goods shop display that Bear sent its dealers and while it worked great for maximizing available space, it left a little to be desired aesthetically. Maybe a frame rack that would hold several of your single mount designs? That thing impressed me more than my response showed, probably. I already picked up material for three of them but haven't made sawdust yet.    Grant
