I just started collecting around 6 weeks ago and so far i have 17 Bear bows. I have been told that this is a sickness so i would like to know how sick some of you are.
-
I have a few more than I need, and a few less than I want.
Sickness? What sickness? I feel fine.

over 120 different Bear Bows.... I am looking to collect all variations (with reason) of the Bear Kodiak 1950-1966 (only looking for about 6 more to complete my Kodiak collection). I have Kodiak Magnums 1961-1971 plus all 3 types of '63 dogleg Magnums. Then I collected Kodiak Specials 1955-1960, (0nly looking for 2 Kodiak Specials). There are new variations (i.e rosewood site window 1959 Kodiaks) being discovered once in a while so the my collection will always be evolving. There are also transition, proto-type, experimental, commemrative, etc. examples out there to expand the collection and shrink the savings account too! I dabble in Grumleys as well but have only acquire a couple signed Deerslayers. I tend to like the unique and unusual bows, you never know what you are going to find next. Sickness?? maybe just a little.

Joe, I have too many! I have owned hundreds but my youngest son now has my "collection" and I own ten that I still use and hunt with regularly. Since my personal bows are modified beyond what most collectors are looking for it will probably stay that way. There are still eight or nine models in 65+ lbs. that I'm kind of looking for though, LOL. Grant

Wow I don't feel so crazy now, I only own 7

I am now down to 10. Sold a few lately. For number 11 i’ll have to wait till the Québec Bear Quest IV, a hand delivered Mag B riser #2 limbs. Also have 3 Ben Pearsons.
I have a tendency to succumb to bow fever during the loooong winter months so I have no idea how many I might own comes next spring.

I currently own ten. All of them are takedowns, wood and magnesium, that I shoot and hunt with. I seem to have a fondness for them. They are all "B" handles which my favorite length.
My wife used to give me grief for constantly buying bows till I found out how many pocketbooks she has, and still buys them, some t cost more than what I pay for bows.

4 wooden B handles
1 wooden A handle
1 each A & B Magnesium handle
8 sets of limbs
4 Grizzlies
'57 Kodiak
'90's Kodiak
'70 & '71 Super Kodiak
2 Bear Cubs
Wow, I hope my wife doesn't read this.

Murray- you can get help for this; I know you ain't got anything you don't shoot and nobody can shoot that many bows, LOL. Grant

Grant,
I was actually feeling sorry for myself cause I don't have a '59 Kodiak or an original t/d. Sorta feel blessed now that I've read what I have! Murray

Joe,
Just counted 348 Bear bows here that I could find. Some may have been overlooked in this accumulation of over 750 bows.
Most are Grumleys, Kodiaks, and Kodiak Specials but have some Grizzlys, Kodiak Magnums, T/Ds and a few odd balls.
I'd like to get rid of a couple hundred old bows to make room for some other stuff so if you hear of anyone looking for any old bows be sure to send the over to my place with an empty pickup (and a full wallet).
All collectors are crazy...
Bear bow collectors are especially crazy.
