I've been searching for a left handed Kodiak Hunter at an affordable price for well over a year. I've missed out on a couple on the bay that went off for more than I thought they were worth. About 10 days ago I had a reply to one of my "want ads" posted around on the net. Pics were sent and a deal struck with an honorable collector and admirer of Fred Bear and the bow arrived today. It's beautiful. Even better than it looked in the pics. Absolutely no stress lines on any limb surface. It's a managable 45 lbs at 28" and 60" AMO. It's a 1970 model....it has no stabilizer insert. It's just simply gorgeous and I'm a very happy camper.
As soon as this hot spell passes I'll get her shot.

Congratulations. That one really is a beauty. I have a 1968 KH, and I must say that the Kodiak Hunters are gems.
Have fun with it.

Nice bow, congrats! What's this about not shooting in the heat? Are older bows susceptible to coming un-done? My more modern recurves and longbows are just fine in the heat, and I haven't had a problem with my mid-70s K-Mag. Here we often have hot weather, although it is so hot that usually our hunting and shooting takes place in the morning or evening.

No, Ben, the bow will be fine....it's me thats likely to become undone.... ;^)

Ben, Here in Maryland it is upper 90's which for us is super hot! 1st hot day in a while so it feels even hotter.

Thanks for the reassurance! Phew! I am slowly and steadily becoming attracted to collecting a few older, huntable bows!
Man, that must be quite a temperature range you fellows get, from really cold in winter to some really hot spells in summer! All the best with it!
