Hey gang,
Do any of you have suggestions or recommendations of custom bowyers with short build times?
I mean, I'm talking like 3-6 month, something like that.
And not overly expensive, around $500 range or less?
Thanks!

Dan Toelke. Ands it $650. Awsome bows The very best craftmanship available. http://montanabows.com/

If you're looking for a recurve, Brandon Stahl. His bows are both impeccably built and great shooters. Current waiting time is one to two months. The prices start from $425. Do a search for Rose oak here on Tradgang to read more.

If you are wanting a longbow Allen Boice of Liberty Bows can have you a bow in less than two months. He sent me a bow to test and I purchased it and ordered another one. I think his basic bow is around $500.00 and you get actionboo or yew lams. Its more than most basic bows. Exccellent craftsmanship and a great guy to work with. His bows are top shelf shooters.

I second what Wapiti said. My last two whips were done in 3 weeks, and are they purty. His price listed on website covers pretty much anything you will do to the bow.
-
Dick Boss out of Colorado built me a longbow for $425.00 and was done in a month. He said for that price I coud choose any wood combo I wanted. If you're interested I'll have to find his #.

HORNE ARCHERY and there let there bows do the talking!!!!!
-
RER has a bunch of bows in stock usually.
-
There are a bunch of bowyers with short waits and extremely high quality bows. What type of bow do you think you want? There are a bunch of really high quality bowyers with short wait times.
-
Thanks guys,
That's a bunch of different one to look at!
I really don't know what I want. I like to look around first before I buy anything. I've been shooting a recurve for nearly a year now. I do OK with it, but I've always been partial to longbows. I ordered a longbow last year in May, but it had delays, and didn't come when I thought it would.
I've sort of lost interest in it, since ordering it, so I might just sell it when I recieve it and order something else. Unless of course, it were to shoot really sweet! Then I may keep it.
Talk to you guys a little later,
I gotta go check out some web-sites!

OK, for longbows, I've sure read good things about the Toelke's already mentioned. At Kalamazoo this past weekend I shot an Ancient Spirits that I really liked a lot, and he told me about a six week wait time. Dwyer longbows are also great longbows, well crafted and beautiful, and will fit your time and budget requirements. Plenty of others as well.
Keep listening here and we'll give you so many options you will be thoroughly confused! ;)

If your looking for a Real Longbow....
Give Howard Hill Archery a try, Craig will have a bow in your lap in about a Month....

I am a sponsor on Trad Gang, offering a bow consulting service. I have dozens of bowyers that I can refer you to, with build times and prices that are well below your limits. As a part of my service I will also help you select the best core woods for a given design, based on what each bowyer offers. Click on the link to visit my service.

Thanks again guys,
Mike, I agree about the "real longbow", but I'm kinda in the market for a not-so-real longbow.
Something along the lines of a Centaur, as far as looks go. I like the lines of that bow, but they have a long wait, and the price is a little more than I can afford.
I also like the looks of the Chapparal bows. I like a forward or at least mid position riser on my longbows. I guess what I really want, wouldn't be considered a longbow at all.
I don't know what most would call it, but I want to say: "hybrid flatbow".
Does that make sense?
LOL!

Also, Chaparral Archery has a R/D longbow for $475. Not sure of the turnaround time, though.

Losts of bowyers will work with your time frame and $$$$. But if you do not at least consider Liberty Bows, you will be missing out on one of the best.

Jim Godden. He lives in a town about an hour south of Ottawa.
-
I'll second Jim Godden of Mississippi Lake Longbow. Great bows and GREAT price.
He has an ad in TBM.

hnh,
I think it would be worth your time to check out Grizzly bows. You can check out the website @ www.grizzlybows.com. (http://www.grizzlybows.com.) Great longbows with several styles of takedowns and one-piece. You really can't beat the quality of these bows. Check it out and see- prices are less than $500 and the turn-around is much less than any of the "big name" manufacturers.

Timberhawk Bows
-
Timberhawkman- Thanks, I have their addy somewhere, I'll check them out too.
Everyone else:
WOW!
All those bows are nice looking bows!
I especially like the Whip from montanabows so far. But it may be a little above my price range.
I also found that the correct addy for them is: www.libertylongbows.com (http://www.libertylongbows.com)
The Ancient Spirits Mt Ash bow looks interesting too.
My e-net service is dial up, so I've not got a good look at the grizzlybows site, because the pages load so slow.
Thanks again everyone,
