Title: Help on mid 60's Howatt strike plate?

I'm looking for help on what an original 1964-68 (approx) Howatt strike plate looks like and the weight?

Two bows, one 54" Diablo and one old green glass  58" Hi-Speed ne plus ultra (that's a summer restoration project) both need them.

I don't think they were anything special but I can't find a photo of a bow of this era that still HAS one to see what they looked like.

The following website has some pictures of Damon Howatt and other bows from 1960, and 1938. The 1960 is about eight frames down from the top. Click on any image to enlarge. I see one with a feather type rest. The others appear in the brochure without a rest or strike plate. Hope this helps.

I saw those 60s and unless Im REALLY needing new glasses, I agree, there isnt a strike plate leather on them so wondering myself but those are about 5 years earlier.

I know I bought one in 69-70 that I THOUGHT had both the rest and leather on it but cant remember what it looked like. I do have a couple of Trap's feather rests and might try one on it but looking for a THIN leather material to use. Suggestions there would be great. About to go to Salvation Army on a leather hunt, LOL!

The premade one's I find are really thick.

I'll probably just stick a same ol, same ol rectangular one on them. I figured I'd find one in fleabay but no luck yet on anything that looks original, so maybe they DIDNT come with one.

I'll find an advertisement sooner or later with the correct ad, I'm sure.

I have a 1963 catalog and it shows six models. some have rugs on the shelf and none have strikeplates.If you want a thin one try some moleskin. used alot for palm pieces.

If weather is a factor, the synthetic Bear style rug & hair rest are nice and come with adhesive. Available at most archery stores, plus Kustom King and 3 Rivers (sponsors).

If you cut your own, use Barge Cement to glue in place.

Leather stores and some saddle shops carry wide selections of leather, thin to heavy.

Nylon belt straps can be cut, then the edge sealed by a match. There are lots of materials out there, depending on your preferences.
