With the help of all the post on here I have completed my first serious Bear restoration. The reproduction items from fellow tradgangers make a nice complete package. Traps feather rest, Bob York side plate, and decals from Alan Harford..many thanks guys..
A leather grip will be added when I tire of the rosewood it will cover..Roy

You did a wonder job on a bow with some beautiful wood.
If you want to try your hand at restoring a right hand 1959 Kodiak, I can send you one (or more) to work on.
-
Roy,
That is an excellent job you've done right there.Very nice. Thanks for sharing. Now I won't have to ship my bows out to Seattle or Maryland anymore,I can just drive them over to your house.

She sure is a beauty Roy. Boy you do nice work. I'm with John. I'll just drop them off at your house. Nice Job!!!! :notworthy:

Thanks guy's
I now know why the '59 to '62 Kodiak and KS are so desired, the wood really makes them a work of art and 90% of collecting something is eye appeal.

Kurt,
I used the MINWAX wipe-on clear gloss poly that comes in a 16 oz can at most home improvement stores.
-
 great job!

Awesome job! Roy that looks great!
-
Outstanding Roy!!!!!
I hope the one I'm refinnishing turns out as nice..
Great Job, Trap

Very nice!
You brought out the PH nicely. I agree it's a shame to cover that nice grain on the handle.
I picked up an oxidized one last week too.
Hope I can bring it back like yours.
Cant wait to see Traps facelift job as well.

Beautiful! Very nice job.

How many coats of the MINWAX wipe-on poly did you have to apply?
-
Wade,
I didn't count, the first ones I used lint free rags that put it on a lot thinner, then went to the foam brush that applies it thicker but you get runs easier. You will know when you sand between coats if the imperfections are covered and when the decals are covered later on and you have a even glossy finish.
-
Great job Roy, love that finish.
