Since Mathews is out of the traditional bows now, would the ones out there be worth more seeing how they probably didn't make many?Just wondering seeing how I have a longbow on my rack. Thanks
-
They still make trad bows my friend...all they did was sell Sky archery. ;)
-
I heard from a Mathews dealer that they were done making trad bows.

Personally, I feel that original Sky bows (by Earl Hoyt, Jr) are the pinnacle of a master bowyer and an archery icon, which makes them more collectible TO ME....plus, the prices of the Mathews models makes the used Sky bows on the market a much better buy....again, my opinion...
Ultimately, collectibility is in the eye of the beholder. I suppose it's possible that Matthews bows would find a small following, but they weren't all that popular when you could buy a new one...
JMHO, YMMV
PS I own four Sky bows, my first NEW bow was a Sky, so I may be a little biased

I guess over time they could go up to close to what they were selling for new.Of course you still would have to find someone that wanted it.

Mathews still have the Heritage line listed on there website. I also called a dealer close to me and yes he still can get them.

All the Matthews longbows I have seen for sale lingered for a long time.

If you want to collect, look for quality old bows like Drake, Fasco, Tice & Watts, etc. There's a lot of good vintage bows out there that are very high quality and of reasonable price.

anyone ever shoot one?ihave been thinking of getting one but have never had a chance to try one.

I shot the recurve. well made and shot OK but nothing spectatcular. There are better options available that are also made in the U.S.A. The one I shot has now developed a slight limb twist.

I have the hertiage longbow, smooth shooter and really quiet.I'm not fond of the grip which is why I'm going to sell it.Nothing wrong with the grip,I'm just like my Howard Hills better.

I have the Metal riser Mathews,60# 62" I think its called the Rambo model
I liked the 61 Kodiak 60#, I had more.
Nice enough bow, but nothing to rave about IMO

I'm about to list a Neet Archery by Earl Hoyt Jr. takedown bow for a friend. Check the classifieds. Nice bow and a bargain for someone. I believe these preceded them being Sky Archery, but not sure. CKruse
