I normaly use a 2018 Bop legacy arrow.
I like to use the Outback 125 grn Broadhead.
This broadhead overhangs the arrow by 3/4".
So to get back to my 29" draw I need to add the 3/4" to my arrow, How much do you think this will affect the flight/spine of my arrow....
Thanks for the advice in advance
Mike, I shoot aluminums pretty much exclusively. Not that it matters though since the same principles apply that apply to tuning any arrow material. To answer your questin though, the first thing I would ask is whether your current arrow is dead on, a little weak, or a little stiff. If it's already just a tad to the weak side, (barely discernible when bare shafting) which is how I like to end up with my finished arrows, I would say 3/4" would leave me with less than adequate arrow flight. If your lucky enough to currently be a little over spined, you may come out just right. If your getting dead straight bare shaft flight, well...thats a judgement call that I think you'll have to make by analyzing the flight you end up with. If it were me in that case, I would probably try to procure a 2020 just to see how much more than that 3/4" I would need to get back to perfect tune. The 2020 may end up requiring more length than your happy with in that case in which case your back to the 2018. I hope my ramblings might be useful to you.
It will weaken it around three pounds Mike.
Mike,
I had a look at Eastons shaft selector and dialed in 55# 125 grain head, modern longbow.
The bow poundage was a guess, as you didnt mention bow weight.
The chart had 2018's for both 29" and 30" draws so Its likely 2018's should still work for you.
I then tried 60# bow weight and its 2018 at 29" and 2020 at 30"
Woody
Thanks Woody....
Did ya get my Order....?
My Hill bow is 54#....
So I orderd some Arrows from the Nocking point cut to 29 3/4"
If they dont work I'll just cut them to 29" and use them with field points....
I love thoes Outback Supremes 125 LW butt ya got to allow for the 3/4" over hang....
