PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU WRITE YOUR SCREEN NAME AND SCORE SOMEWHERE ON THE TARGET!!!
CUTT OFF DATE TO SIGN UP IS DEC. 16, 2007
How do ya'll feel about doing an online shooting tourny? I'm thinking 5 weeks long one target a week at something like 15 yeards with 5 arrows. it will be totaly on the honor system. once you shoot your target you take a pic or scan the target and post it. Tradgang picture size rules (http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=045582) apply. Please make sure you adhear to them. If you need help ask some one or email/PM me and I will help you.
obvisouly your gonna need a scanner or camera to be able to play.
Jan 1 2008 is the start date. you have one week to shoot your target. if no target turned in by that sunday noon (12PM CST) you get a 0.
1. Any bow classified as a traditional by tradgang standards
2. No arrow restrictions....carbon, wood, aluminum, cane....etc
3. A cut line gets rounded up
4. An "X" is a 12 everything is as marked
5. Targets must be turned in by Sunday 12:00 PM
6. You cannot shoot all 5 targets in one week and turn them in one at a time or all at one time
7. You may practice/warm up before shooting your target
8. If more then 5 holes appear in your target your weeks target will be a zero
9. Target will be shot at a distance of 15 yards or 45 feet
10. Everyone will shoot this Target (http://www.uspalma.com/Targets/PDFs/200%20reduced%20for%20100.pdf)
We will be using this target so that everyone can print it. It will print on regular paper.
http://www.uspalma.com/Targets/PDFs/200%20reduced%20for%20100.pdf
Here is a target sample and how to score. Best you can get is a 60 (5 arrow * 12 points = 60)
please make sure to put your screen name and your score on the target somewhere. That way if your going to have some one post them for you they do not get mixed up with some one elses score.
SAMPLE:
all times I refer too are in CST/CDST
that sounds like a really cool idea! you can count me in, I will see if I can find the targets next week.
Kevin.
I like it! I'm not all that good...but it will still be fun. Any reason to shoot is a good one! Do you know if there is standard archery target that is the same measurement as this target? What is the width overall and between each ring? 12" outside, 2" intervals? I can get some target at the local archey shop if I can cross-reference these. Thanks, David
I like it...but how about a prize for last place? I may be in the running for that one. :bigsmyl:
I'm in. If I can find some targets. I have access to just about any type of archery target at my club but I don't know where to find NRA targets.
Can we have small holes in the corners where we attach them to the bale?
Probably can get the NRA targets at a gun shop or sporting goods section of a variety store...?
Could we agree on a target that is freely available on the internet - one we could all just print off? That would help with consistency. How about one of these (http://www.uspalma.com/Targets/targets.htm)
BillJ
I'm in!
I'll look for targets tonight. Great idea thanks for posting this.
I'd be willing to play.
Guys n Gals....we've mulled this over, and the only thing we ask is no prizes, no matter how small or insignificant,....its just best that way.
Cool idea for sure, and sounds like a lot of fun...so have at it!
Ya'll heard the man no prizes
I really don't care what target we use. The reason I chose this one is cause I have several hundred of them and could send 5 out to whoever could not find them.
they are easily found at any gun shop, sporting good shop, like; dicks, cabelas, bass pro.
are you guys cool with 15 yards? I am lucky and have 18 yards in my basement, but it has been brought to my attention that not everyone has that luxery. SO is 15 yards cool?
Sounds good to me but I'll have to send pics to someone as I just can't get them to post :0)Drew

There are web sites where you can download and print targets that way everyone has the same targets.
Hehe, This one sounds like fun. Count Me in.
Try this one:
http://www.mytargets.com
Sounds cool. Count me in.
sounds fun Count me in
Count me in too, I think it would be easier if we did as was already suggested and used targets that everyone can print at home for free.
OK then...how do ya'll feel about this one?
http://www.uspalma.com/Targets/PDFs/200%20reduced%20for%20100.pdf
basicaly same thing, but fits on regular 8.5X11 paper
I was going to suggest that very same target. Count me in!
I was thinking though that we could all be shooting for one score against everybody for an overall winner but also keep track of the top scores with a recurve, longbow, and selfbow. That way we could all see how were doing in our own respective disciplin? Just an idea. What do ya think?
I'm in ! I'm always looking for another reason to shoot. I'll check on the NRA #B-8 's this weekend.
The uspalma.com target is super easy. Does everyone's printer print the same? For comparison, my 9 ring is 6 3/8" across, 10 ring is 3 3/8".
Jeff, count me and my Shawnee "Yellow Jacket" in. This is gonna be fun.
I'm willing to embarasse myself!! (First year shooter) I'm in sounds like fun.
Cool I'm in

I was gonna see how this one went first.
I've got a pretty snazzy idea for another one after this one.....teams by state
Since this is the first one I would like to keep it simple for recording purposes...I am keeping everyone's name on a spread sheat and will post results on monday morning after the the targets/scores come in.
For the sake of tradgang bandwidth it might serve us well to just post our scores instead of the target.

Awww heack then you still have begginers luck on your side....I've been shooting for 25 years and ebares myself regularly....cept I aint got no excuse....a feller would think i could figure it out after 25 years, but I guess that's why I'm still shoot'n.
Sounds cool!! Count me in!! I definitely could use the practice!!
David
I was in til JoeM the first year shooter said he is a first year shooter... :knothead: Like the guy/gal who never played cards before, they always win... :bigsmyl:
I'd like to try too, count me in.
Thanks, Bobby
I'm in. Sounds like fun.
OK I'll play too. I think I still have some NRA targets left over from my in door pistol league days. If not I'll just print one of the others.
count me in to sounds like a lot of fun.and it just give me another reason to practice.just started shooting about two weeks now
if we use on of the print out targets, im in!

good idea Jeff

Drew you can send them to me and I'll post them for you.
I'll give it a go as well. Just hafta remember that I need to do it. It's my time of the year that keeps me hopping at work, but I can find the time.
I'll probably try this. I guess it's settled on 15 yds, which is a good distance for trad and something a lot of guys can get at home. One thought... printers can vary. Just for the record, i printed out that target and the black measures 6 7/8" as done by my printer. It looks like the same as the on-screen orig., but I thought it would be helpful to have a standard figure shown. Can someone compare to a bought one and let us know if that's correct? Most of us can play with our printers and/or copies to get to the standard measurement.
Dick in Seattle... who will be ordering extra pizza's so he can past these to the boxes...
Whoa!!! amend previous post.... that's 5 7/8".... I was using a ruler with a course beginning so I started at the 1" mark... then like an idiot forgot to adjust. Anyway, you get the idea... we need the actual measurment off of a commercial or official version of the target to establish a printer verificatiion figure.
Dick
I'm in.
I am In.. we have a trad night on mondays,, so I will shoot it then...
My daughter is telling me she is in also..
I printed off the palm page,, my black across was 5 7/8. the 10 ring is 3 1/4. the 8 ring did not completely print and I dont have a 7 ring.. Is that the one?
shoot at 15 yards?
Woohooo
I'm in and my printed target measurements are the same as those listed by BigCnym.
I'm in.
Yes, I came up with the same thing that BigCnym got. (it says SR-1, 200 yd reduced for 100 yds).
Another clarification, do we post a pic of the target or just post our score???
Count me in. I need the practice, I've only just unpacked my archery gear since moving here.
Graham
I'd like to play too. Add me to the list please.
Marvin
HaHa, my target measures 6 1/8 accross the 9 ring and 3 1/4 accross the 10 ring.
I'll try it on my printer at home and see it it scales any differently.
Count me and my son in also.
Thanks Mike :0)
I'll play along too. Sounds like fun.
My Black across is also 5 7/8" and the ten ring is 3 1/4". I'm in and looking forward to it.
I got 6" for the 9 ring
3 1/4" for 10 ring
1 1/4" for X
I have 6 3/8" for 9 ring
3 1/4" fpr 10 ring
1 1/4 for X

I think it would be cool to see the targets. I emailed rob d. and he said there are no issues with bandwidth so post the targets!!!
you will also need to score your own target. so post you target and the score.
I'm in. I like the target we can all print off here. Posting our score is easier than posting a photo, but looking at everyones targets would be more fun.
My print out is
9 ring 6 3/16
10 ring 3 1/4
x ring 1 1/4
Let's do it.
When do we start?
I believe it starts the week of January 1, 2008...and targets have to be posted by Sundays at noon (Central time).
correct me if wrong...
Add my name to the list as well.
I'll play. This sounds fun.
Sounds fun!
How about you younger guys spotting us older folks a few points???
At least I have until Jan 1, to practice. ;)

NO CHANCE IN YOU KNOW WHAT!!!!....waait wait where do you draw the line for "older"? :biglaugh:
I have found out I am a heck of a lot better at 30 yards then I am at 15...I'm about a foot or so high at 15...having to aim at the floor to hit paper.
we will start Jan 1st 2008. you have one week to shoot your target.
refer to the first post for rules and regs. I will be updating the first post, and on Dec. 16 when we cut off the sign up I will make the final post with the final rules and regulations. so that way we can adjust whatever we need but have set rules for when we start.
48 guys right now...this is gonna be fun. we need a tittle for first place winner!
I'd like in on this but I have yet to figure out how to post pictures on this site. Al
I'm in if I can send someone my target pic to post. Any volunteers?

This might be a good reason for me to finally buy one of those cameras. If I can come up with one, I would like to play as well.
I just missed a hog last week :help: so, I need more practice, count me in.
Sounds like a lot of fun I'd like to enter and my girlfriend as well. How do we sign up and where do we post our targets?
I will start a new post for you to post your targets too, and you just signed up....

Fantastic my girlfriend will go by (Dragonfly)

Wow 54 fellas and one gal...this gonna be a blast
Don't forget to check the first post...that is where I am doing updates
I'd like to get in, no gaurantee I could post every week though.
I'll be watching from the road when I can. It'll be fun watchung how this turns out.
As for a winners 'title'...

after some thought (ouch) .. I can shoot on Sunday. If I could snail-mail my target to someone and have them post it...anyone wanna volunteer?
Count me in! Good reason to make me shoot during these cold snowy days! Thanks! :clapper:
Did you count me in? If not, please do!
BillJ
Please add 2 more...Myself and Drummer (Don) would like to get in on this. Sounds cool......Thanks
Can I just buy the target somewhere? I don't have a printer. I looked wal*mart and they had some 200 yard rifle targets
Nighthawk, I'll print them off when I get home for ya.
Would you mind posting mine, if I mailed them to you?

66 so far...I imagine a couple more people will wonder onces they are back to work and browsing TG
Make that 67! Sounds like a blast and I DO need the practice, Havent shot in two weeks after shooting every day for a far back as I can remember
I'd like to do this, if I may.
Count me in as well.
My Daughter "Hunter" is in,, 2 girls so far.!!!
Add me to the mix...
I'll give it a go, if I can get a printer up and running in time.
so count me in.

Sounds like a good alternative for making excuses NOT to shoot. I'm in! The 9 ring on my printout is 5 15/16". Thats from the link in the first post. That work?
Why not use the standard nfaa 300 target available in every archery shop?
I'm in with this target and the standard 300 round - 60 arrow - 20 yds. Can't shoot outside here in January and at my local range, everyone shoots 20 on the weekends.
Steve
Yep Snag. I just hope I don't insult it with my shooting. This will be my first tourny and I'm excited to be embarrassed.
I think a lot of us don't have access to a 20 yard indoor range in the winter. I got 15 yards in my attic max, the closest indoor range is about a two hour drive. This will give more folks a chance to participate. I like the 300 round and shoot it outside in my backyard when ever the weather is good.
Count ME :readit:
I can Scan My Weekly Target , and then....? Send it In to YOU , Or,"Try" to Post it? I walked in a Tad Late, but it sounds Great to me too!! :saywhat:
I got a chance to do a little practing on the reduced Palma target @15 yds, the other night..by Jan, I'll be warmed up :)

Rod AINT allowed he is to dang good. You could make him shoot at 60 yards to make it fair.
I looked at Rods target again, it looks like hes got the lefts pretty bad.
so Where using the link in the first post for targets right?
Sign me up I reckon.
Rod, can't you center that group a little better? :saywhat:
Killdeer :D
Yes, Rod is too good. :notworthy:
We are all fortunate that he has decided to only shoot 3 arrows while the rest of us get 5. :biglaugh:
Ok, 3 arrows at 60 yrds
I'd like to get in on this...add me
Killy....thats the reason I started practing EARLY ! :)
I'm not gonna actually turn in a score for consideration...but would like to kinda shoot along with the rest of the GANG
count me in
yea Billy I could do that for ya but you'd have to get it mailed to me in time for me to post it to the gang :)
El Cheapo and I are in as well. Plus I'm getting a new camera for Christmas. Hope my shooting with the bow are as good as my shooting with the new camera will be!

my son wants in also :bigsmyl:
I just printed my targets from the link on your original post. Don't understand why people are asking where to get targets?! Looks like the worst you can do if you hit the target five times is 40 even if the 8 ring is incomplete. Count me in. Please revise your first entry if the rules change, that way we won't have to page through to find any changes.

Uh, Rod, you're gonna hafta do quiet a bit better than that if you want to be near the top....I mean, we're only talking 15 yrds here.... :biglaugh:

have a look

Just experimenting
Al, is that a Big 5 hill bow?
Wesley
I went out side this afternoon to see how I could shoot this tourney. There are several inches of snow and a new 3/4 inch of rhime ice. I set the target in the back of my garage and marked 15 yards down drive. I promptly shot 2 holes in the back of my garage. Good news is the target is still good to go for start of tourney.
QuoteSteve, you've got me confused...are you in or not?
THE RULES AND TARGETS ARE POST IN THE FIRST POST!!
In that case - no.
Steve
Oh c'mon Steve. I've seen ya shoot. You wont freeze for as long as it will take ya to shoot 5 arras at 15yrds?
Rod, Why not post your scores? It'll just give us poor souls sumthin to aspire to and an incentive to shoot better. :bigsmyl:
Can a newbie join? I haven't shot any bow for about 15 years and am wanting to get back into it. I have a couple used bows on the way. I just hope they are useable.
I just have one question. When I hit that X from 15 yards, how do I prove my next 4 arrows went into the same hole?
Greg
you'll have a very long arrow in the pic...
I am googling to find someone that makes 15 yard arrows. Do we need a pic with the arrows in the target or just the holes? The original just shows holes.
One suggestion from a newbie that knows little about traditional gear - Could the bow name used be added to the pic with the score and name?
I know the archer is the reason for the score, but it would be interesting to see what bow.

LMAO...Greg, I'm not sure there is room for 5 arrows in the X ring. The arrows suppliers should be doing good in the next couple of months...I forsee quite a few robinhoods, but dang man your gonna have a hard time proving 5 of them.... :knothead: :goldtooth: :biglaugh:
I don't see a problem adding the bow name.....I just NEED the screen name of the shooter and the score...
I think the target with holes would be sufficent since it's hard to visualy score a target with arrows still in it by picture.
Ok so count me in. I saw one person said they set up the target by their garage and put two holes in the garage. I'll be scoring just behind him I think. Glad I stubled across this site in the last week or 2.

I am going to shoot all five at one time since I am in no way worried about ruing arrows :goldtooth:

Thanks Blackhawk,
I will get him to sign up then.

Sorry fellas took a weekend and headed west for some rabbit slaying. Got 13" of snow in about 5 hours that layed up over already formed ice 1/8" thick. Lost power from friday to this afternoon.
Took 2 doz arrows brought home 6, but have the wabbits to show(kinda no pics just a full belly) for them missing arras.
Lets call the registration/Signup closed. I do not have a finaly tally but it's over 100. We should have a problem distinguishing between a pin hole and an arrow hole unless ya'll plan on affixing your targets with railroad spikes...if your worried use tape. I am using roofing tacks
