Title: HOG HUNTING HELP!!!
Post by: Bob B. on December 06, 2007, 10:26:00 AM
I will have a few days to do some hog hunting this March.  It will be my first attempt at traditional hog hunting.  I live in South Western Wisconsin.  Any idea where to begin my search, Missuori, Kentucky,...?  I am trying to stay within 10 hours of travel.  Please help me get started.    :help:

Bob.

You got more than 10hrs travel to make wild hog country I belive. Check out Curtis at 7th Age Bowhunting in the sponsor list here, he'll show you more hogs than you got arras for! You'll have to go to Texas but its worth the trip. Or, you could check out the Texas Sweat Hunt do a search here. There is still room but it is end of Feb 18 to 23rd.

Bob,

There are wild hogs in Tennesee in the Smokies. I have not hunted these but from what I have read and heard the population is not such that you will find them in any great quantity. Best methoed there seems to be using dogs. High density hog hunting is further south Georgia, Carolinas,Florida, parts of Arkansa and Oklahoma and of course Texas. If it is just a preserve hog hunt your looking for there are lots of places closer to you. There is a big preserve in northern Michigan - Cheyboygan perhaps some of the michigan guys could give you contact info. Nugent used to own place but not sure any more on that. It's still open as I seen the sign last month driving through area. These preserves are best termed as a fun BBQ harvest at best. Wild hog hunt they are not. I would highly recommend you head further south for real hog action.
