Title: what bow am I looking for?

Hey guys.. I want a bear bow. I shoot lefty and draw 30 inches. I would like a low poundage bow that will be about 40 at my 30 inch draw.
So my question is.. what older bear (mid 70's or older) is long enough, came in 35# or so.. can be found in left hand etc. Just wanted to see what some of you guys who are familiar with the bear line had to say. thanks
I like the hunter models more than the target style.

I'd get a 62" Tigercat.

With a 30" draw, look for a Kodiak Special in 66". These are relatively common, but you may have to search a little harder for a leftie at your weight.  I have a 66" KS from 1959 that's as pretty, accurate, and quiet as any out there. (It's not for sale either).

Keep an eye out also for the 64" Super Kodiak.  These are slightly beefier without being big and heavy and an awesome example of a Grayling Bear.

Don't limit yourself just to Bear bows unless there is a particular reason that you have to have a Bear.

There are a lot of good bows from the 60's available.  Howatt's Wings, Howards, Pearsons, etc.

I agree that with a 30" draw I would go for a 66"...64" at the shortest.

66 Inch Kodiak Specials. Plenty out there, great shooting bow, and not all that pricey.

i agree the pearson javalina,just got one on a trade and gave her a face lift today,she looks awsome and some real pretty wood,rich in pa.

Thanks guys. Guess I'm not dead set on a bear. I'm not a collector but would like to have an old bear in my small stash just because and I want a lighter weight for form practice. i guess I'll look around and consider what I find whether a bear or not.
I just didn't know when they were making the longer bows and don't know how realistic it is to find one in a 35# range. Thanks again

Actually the old Polars aught to work.
Many of them where less than 40# and typically don't fetch much.

Actually if I did not get ripped off by a guy on **** I may have a Damon Howatt Ventura left hand at 66 inches and 28 pounds at 28 inches for sale soon. Takes forever for things to get to where I am from the US so I am hopeful the bow is on its way.

Like you I am a 30 inch draw length, I have just decided that I am going to shoot right handed for instinctive style and the bow will be surplus to my needs unless I happen to fall in love with it.
