Was fortunate to find this beauty on the auction site. Condition described as good and it is and then some. What a sweet shooting old bow. 52# @ 28".

oh yeah those are great lookers and even better shooters.bd

I shoot my 65 real well. I was reluctant to get her because she had 2 small holes and , me being new to Trad at the time, was taught holes=bad. Well - she shoots a heck of a lot better than bows I paid twice as much for with no holes.
'65's are nice!

  good luck!

I'm another satisfied '65 customer. I got a nice 48# one on the 3bay site a few years ago and it was $200 well spent. I still prefer the 59-64 Kodiaks, but the '65 still ranks in my top 10 on my list of vintage shooters.

I like the 65 also.

How does the grip compare to the 66? I love the looks but thought my 66 had a blocky grip when compared to other Yaks and Super K's

Slightly slimmer, mainly on the back of the bow. The '65 feels rounded off where your fingers wrap around more than the '66 but both are similar to me.

Grip is very comfortable and this bow really shoots. I draw nearly 32" and at my draw I'm shooting it in the low-mid 60's. Very minimal stacking. I'm shooting 33" 340 carbons with 100 gr. inserts and 250 gr. field points. for a total arrow weight of around 680 gr. At 20 yards it shoots the arrow with no appreciable arrow drop. And boy, it wallops the target.
I have owned a bunch of custom bows. Blacktails, Robertsons, Morrisons, Rose Oak's, Kota's, Widow's etc...I actually prefer the way these vintage bows shoot with the older Damon Howatt Hunters being a real favorite.
This is my first Kodiak. My initial impression is that at least for me, it's inherently a little more accurate than the Howatt. IT doesn't stack as much either.
