Title: Arrow collector ????????
Post by: 8KCAB on April 27, 2009, 10:49:00 AM
Who can tell me about these arrows?  Year, uniqueness, etc.?

As per the rules of the forum to protect the members and other non-members, let there be no misunderstanding, this item is   NOT FOR SALE.  I don't want my post deleted again!!

For other responses (like the one earlier),  send a lone email.

Anyhow, I've recently acquired these and they seem to be rather unique.  I'm not a collector and don't intend to be one.  Please tell me what you know about them.

Jon:
Those are mass produced low end arrows, probably made by Ben Pearson Archery. Because they appear to be in excellent condition and in the original box, they would be of interest to someone that collects arrows, but value wise on the low end also. I would guess they are from the 50's-60's

JON:

WesternField was a brand used by Montgomery Wards for its archery products.  Most were made by Ben Pearson but they also had other manufacturors make archery products for them.

I don't necessarily agree that they were "low end" arrows, but not anything exceptionally great.  They are probably the same quality as the regular run of the mill Ben Peqrson brand.

What makes me say they were made by Ben Pearson is the way they are painted.  Full color all the way down the shaft with the three sections of spray for the dresting. Many of Pearsons shafts were colored like that.

WeasternField bows were usually the exact same model as some of the Ben Pearson line but with the WesternField  brand on them.  I would think the same would go for the arrows.

Thanks for the responses guys.

Another thing I noticed on these arrows, and I guess probably all others of this era, is that the fletching are real feathers.  Not sure if that will aid in the identification or not.
