Title: Fred Bear would roll over in his grave

As some of you know I have a new take down supreme, I ordered the bow in  November, I received the bow in January It did not come with inserts for the quiver, which I found out later they don't put inserts in the new take downs. The second problem is I shot the bow for two days And there was a crack in the clear finish, on the top limb. It looked like you took a knife and went from one side of the limb to the other. So I packed it up and sent it back to Bear.
 Five weeks later I get the bow back, put the thing together, went outside shot it about fifty times, the bow shot great, nice and quiet , smooth, and fast.Took it back inside hung it up on the rack, woke up this morning and there is a crack in the bottom limb.
I am going to be using the bow for hunting, so I don't mind if it gets scratched up, But I would think it should last more than fifty shots before the stress cracks start showing up.

i hate to admit it but for the price the new bear bows just suck period  :mad:  , now vintage bears  :)

Man I know the hell they gave u about the inserts.. but man u paid top dollar for a bow I think maybe u should send it back and have them send u a new pair or limb's or have them fix it.. Thats what I would do.. If they give u hell say old fred whould have sent me a new bow if that ever happen or say what ever happen to bear archery or some thing like that...I think u know what I mean...

Jermy, have you had any trouble with cracks on your bow? Mine is just in the clear finish. the bow shoots fine.
 Bowdoc- I will get some pictures tonight.I still need the measurments on the inserts if any one can help, I just need like, from the screw on the riser hinge to the insert on both top and bottom.

I didn't have any trouble with the finish cracking, and I shot the snot out of the bow before trading it.

The problem I see with the high gloss catalyzed finish on the Supreme (and a few of the customs I've owned) is that if it is applied too thick it's likely to crack or buckle as the limb flexes or as the riser wood goes through it's seasonal movements.  If Bear didn't remove all the old finish before spraying they just made the problem worse.

Jeff, Take a look in the trad gang computers area as there is a nice how to on "imagLinky" which I now use to load pics and it works great.

You load your pics on photobucket website and then go to the full reply form and hit img, then paste your link into box.

Hey Jeff,

I have Jeremy's Supreme now and I'm happy (or sorry   :confused:  ) to tell ya that I've shot whatever "snot" was left in it, out of it since I've had it...and still no finish problems whatsoever.

I think Jeremy's got it right...as he usually does, about the thickness of the finish. You may have gotten "too much" for your money on this one!    :(  

I'd keep sending it back and demand it be perfect. You've spent your money- now let them spend theirs until they make it RIGHT!!    :mad:

Ron, I talked to bear today they will be sending me another set of limbs, I think the thickness on the finish is the problem.
What kind of quiver did you put on your bow?
I am just about ready to drill mine for inserts, If I can get the right lay out of where to drill them.
They said it will void the warranty if I put the inserts in, so I guess I will wait until I get the limb thing figured out.

I currently have an EFA 4 arrow quiver on mine that is extremely lt.weight and works well. I'll put a pic up of it tomorrow. Gotta get to work now!    :(

I have the same trouble with mine ,same lines,I bought it as a used bow ,But it was obviously never shot much(I talked to the origional owner and he said he shot it about 30 times or so),Its a first year supreme so the warranty is probably not in effect,shot it about 60 times and the lines just appeared on the lower limb,really dissapointed in the fit and finish in a 1400$ bear bow...

Jeff, they're sending you a second set of limbs, or do you have to mail the originals back????  If you're keeping both of 'em, strip those limbs down to glass and finish!!  err, I mean, I'll take those defective limbs off your hands.  $50 sound good?  :D

I have to send the old limbs back to bear. I talked to them on Friday, they said that they had a set ready to be shipped. We will see how that goes.
 Abear- sorry to hear about your bow, I think I would give them a call and see what they say.
I am still looking for the lay-out for the quiver holes, If anybody has a take-down with inserts, I need that measurement.

Coyote1956, They just tried to deliver them yesterday, but nobody was home, and I am leaving monday morning for two weeks, so It is going to be a while before I can shoot the new limbs.
However I have been shooting the old cracked ones, and they shoot fine, but there is quite a few cracks now.
Like I said before it is just in the clear finish, but you would think for 1300 bucks, you would not have any problems. The lady at Bear assured me that these would not crack. We will see. I will post pictures as soon as it all comes together.
