Title: Refinishing a Ben pearson Cougar
Post by: jambaloney on April 14, 2009, 04:40:00 PM
I got a Ben Pearson cougar on e-bay and it shoots great. It is my first bow and I will likely develop an attatchment to it ;-)

I would like to refinish it... what is the best way to bring back some luster to the fiberglass and to the wood? Do i need 2 different finishes?

I have experience re-finishing wood furniture, I would like to know what applies specifically to bows.

Thank you VERY much in advance!!!

Hello James and welcome

Do a search and you will find many threads on bow refinishing. The best one IMO is Restoration 101 on 1959 Kodiaks. Here is the link.  http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=14;t=001670

The most important thing in refinishing a bow is to not forget to take pics and to post them here. Apart than that, everything else are just details.   :D

Hey James
Simon has it right, Restoration 101 thread is the best source for info.
I'd agree about the pics, but I am not the best at following that part.

I just put tips on a cougar that came out really good, those old BP's look good dressed up.
