I just ordered a kota kill-um recurve 56# at 26" with a coco bolo riser and yew limbs can't wait. Has anybody had any kota bows? This will be my first custom bow.

I have one of Tim's older TD recurves that I bought used. It is super smooth and easy to shoot. It's currently at his shop being re-finished. Somewhere along the way, someone did a very poor job of it, and under that gook is a gorgeous Cocobolo riser and beautifully grained Elm limbs. It will be like new when he's done.
Tim lives about 30 miles south of me and couple weeks ago spent an afternoon with him at his shop. I looked at several bows he had on hand as well as in various stages of construction. Learned more about Traditional bows & bowbuilding in those few hours than I did in the last 3 months since I began Traditional again.
Before I left, I ordered one of his Prairie Swift recurves that will be made from a fancy piece of Bocote he had in the shop. The moral is that if you visit a custom bowyer's shop, you better plan on spending some money!
Kota Bows are second to none in craftsmanship and performance. You won't be disappointed...

I had a kota killum recurve.....prettiest piece of osage i have ever seen in a bow. detail work is awesome. NDterminator, did you get a chance to shoot his newer style t/d recurve?

I shot the one piece and the take down recurves at Kalamazoo Sat. Both shot really good and were really quite, even without silencers.

Pete, no he only had a couple right hander's on hand that day. They were absolutely gorgeous though, I came close to having him build me one of those rather than the Swift. Ordered the Swift because all my bows are TD's...
MM, I second the "quiet" observation. My 62" TD is by far the most quiet bow I own...

Tim seemed to be very helpful and easy to talk to. I've shot one of his bows and was very impressed. I had not heard of him but went to scheels and saw one of his bows and thought this is what I had been looking for, sold my compound a month ago and started shooting my bear and decided never to go back to compounds.

I shoot a Prairie Fire 1 piece LB.I love it.It is a sweet shooter and very nice to look at.
I am a one bow shooter,and I would like to add a couple bows to the rack but don't want to put the Kota down,LOL.

His bows shoot great! I used to have an older TD recurve which I eventually sold. I currently havae a Prairie Nomad TD longbow with 2 sets of limbs (60" 60#@28 and 62" 38#@28")and a Praire Savage TD recurve 56" 56#@27" (actually for sale over in the classifieds).

I have a "Prairie Swift" one piece recure with cocobola riser with accent stripe (black with thin strips on each side, probably maple) It's 54 lbs. @28. I'm really pleased with it. Tim is a good guy to deal with. Sorry no photo's!

I've seen 3under's bow, It's a nice one-piece. like to get me one left handed.

I recently purchased a Praire Nomad TD Longbow in a 62", 54#@28" with a bacote riser and red elm limbs and I'm really pleased with the bow and it is very quiet even with light carbons.

I had breakfast with Tim and Carol Saturday morning at K'zoo. Two of the finest folks I know. Tim makes a hell of a bow. N. Rolling Fork, when I was down there Tim had a 57lbs@28" LH Bocote Prairie Swift. Unless he sold it a KZoo, it's available. I fell in love with it and would have bought it on the spot if it had been 50-52lbs. Carried it around all afternoon!.
That's why I had to order one...

I should have mentioned my Kota recurve is set up with Bow Hush, Hush Puppies plus the 3Rivers stick-on silencers at the recurve on the limbs and it is "quiet". Got two arows off on the same doe before she knew what was happening.
Yeah I know, if I would had hit her with the first arrow I wouldn't have needed the second arrow!!

NDT,how long will it take befor you get it? and when you do post some pic.! I would like to get one in the same weight range as you did.I'm just trying to save up right now.

At the Coon Rapids shoot last summer he had some knotty yew under clear glass that was quite striking. He does nice work for sure. Chad

NRF, Tim figured around 6 months. It'll be a honey. That piece of Bocote was even fancier than the Bocote Swift he had on hand, which was freaking gorgeous. He's going to make limb veneers from the same piece, as well...

Almost pulled the trigger on a prarie swift at coon rapids. Cocobolo Yew was gorgeous. My buddy bought the same bow in green dymondwood with bamboo limbs....real nice looking/shooting bow. I still think about one everytime I see and shoot his bow.
I wish Tim made that recurve in a 62". Very nice bows.
