When you use gasket lacquer what is compatible as far as crown dip, and do you seal over the crown and crest. Any info would be great as far as steps you take and materials. I'm still searching for something that will work good on my arrows. I like to stain the shafts yellow and do the crown in white.
I use 3R water base white over the top of GL for the white cap. Very compatible. No need to seal anything over the top because the white it a sealant by itself and coats of GL over the top will only dull the white. I've also taken the water base clear sealer and tinted it with paint colorant to make red and yellow caps also.
After cresting I use Waco spray clear lacquer to seal the crest. Work good.

Gasket lacquer is the one exception to not putting a hot solvent material over oil or water base materials, it will go over them without a problem. There is no need to gasket lacquer over your crown dip, as far as I'm concerned just a waist of finish. But you can use on the foreshaft and over the crest. I've had customers tell me they gasket lacquer over my water base cresting paint without a problem.

I have used the GL over artist`s acrylic paints with no issues yet. They are water base. I have also found GL will go over Fletch-Lac crown dip and cresting paints. I like a very high gloss finish on my arrows and this combo works best for me.
If you go with GL remember it is thick like STP and needs to be over 70 degrees to apply. I have a real horror story to tell when I did not want to wait for warm weather.
I have had water based cresting paint smear while coming through the gasket. I will allow the cresting to set for 2 days. Then I have no problem.
If you think the cresting is dry enough to coat, wait a while longer.
