I know there is not much of this great man I know that he did shoot him self but to me he did a hell of a lot for archery in his day... If any one has any of Mr. Swinehart stuff could u add some pics of what ever you have... I have one of his book of in africa and have some pics but not a lot of stuff.. I do know that when he was in africa he was working on a moive called The Archer... Which I hope his family will let go of some day....

There is actually a lot about Bob Swinehart that was printed in Archery Magzines in the era when he was active. His books are wonderful pictorials, and contain some good text. Not much of his tackle is in the possession of active collectors today. One of my prized possessions is one of Swineharts African heads, modeled in the fashion of Howard Hill's 1950 Hand Made Elephant Head... A true museum piece that appears in more than one photograph in your book "In Africa".... This is one of the photographs in your book, and Swinehart's only known African Head that has ever been publicly displayed at an American Broadhead Collectors' Club Annual Meeting. Everyone can see it in person at Compton this year.

1st BOWHUNTER to kill a Rhino, and 1st man to take the African Big 5- with a longbow! :notworthy:
Here's one of my all-time favorite vintage archery pics, which just so happens to be of Bob about to lay the smack down on some SERIOUS burger!

Cody, did you see the recurve Bob Swinehart took to Africa? He took a lot of the lighter skinned game with it and Pearson Deadheads. I have a reverse image (RH) 1966 Pinto that is 10# lighter than Swinehart's (mine is still rare at 55#). I like the picture of the native man shooting off the wrong side of it. CKruse
